Talking Ordered E450 Cab - Questions on options

Hi!

Ordered a new 2019 E450 Cabriolet. Ordered every option, except for Air Suspension, Designo Leather and soft-close doors. Middle of June build date... hopefully have in early August????

Never owned a MB before... very excited but want to be sure I don't leave something off I'm going to regret. So I have a few questions....

1. Ordered the 19" AMG wheels with dark accents to go with the night package. Dealer tells me MB will not let them order the all-weather tires, only performance tires. However the DOG says "Important info: All-Weather tires recommended for 4Matic". Should I be concerned I'm getting High Performance tires?

2. It's quite a bit of extra money..... is there that much of a difference between the Nappa leather and the Designo ?

3. Air Suspension.... worth it or jut a big ticket item to fix down the line? I hear both sides....

Thanks for any help!

Why no air suspension?

The car may arrive in the US in early August, but you have to wait until Mercedes releases this model. Could be September - who knows...

Cost really.... car is about $12K more than my wife was comfortable with as it is (happy wife, happy life!). Adding another $2K might just have me LIVING in the car :-).

I test drove an E400 coupe without the air suspension, and found the ride too harsh. Make sure you test drive if you go that way. I would get the air suspension.

Regarding performance tires versus all weather tires, the C43 and GLC43 have 'crabbing' problems in RHD cars. The 'fix' from MB was to switch to all weather tires. I'd keep an eye on this, it could be related.

In regards to air suspension, I'll offer my experience. I ultimately purchased an E400 Coupe with the steel adaptive sport suspension. At first I was looking for air suspension, however after test driving the steel suspension I decided that was 90% of what I wanted, and I have been happy now after four months of driving. I'm 41 and enjoy driving the car, versus just sitting in it. Just my perspective.

I have air suspension on both my cars and would not be without it since run flat tires are now default equipment. All season tires are preferable if you live in a cold climate.
