2019 E-450 Wagon
Been gone, back now. Looking for a Wagon

long time, no see.
Sold my 2004 E-500 Wagon late 2012 and left he forum as I leased a Chevy Volt (great car)
Now got a leased Beemer Diesel Wagon 2015 (328 XD)
Need new wheels by August, always liked the E-Wagons.
A bit early, but fell in love with this baby:

20,000K miles, $47k price.
Have not kept up.
Good Model?, Any weak areas? (My previous MB Wagon’s Achilles heel was the air struts ($2k each) , and some other stuff like the mixing valve for AC, engine mounts, etc.
If I get one of these CPOs I need extended warranty.
Had Easy Care/Total Care in the past: 3 years for $3k, but my 2004 Wagon was high mileage, this one is low mileage and have some factory warranty left.
Any Wagon experts around here? Any leads on lightly used wagons? Looked at the Off Lease Page, no wagons.

I owned the sedan version, was a reliable car. I believe the S212 wagons do still use rear air struts, so with the extended unlimited mileage CPO warranty you should be good for a while. That example has the lighting package which I consider a must and the AMG wheels. Looks nice. By the way, you would get better responses in the W212 forum as this is the W213/current generation forum.

Aha, wrong forum..?
My bad, I am not up on the latest: So this 2016 Wagon is not the latest generation then?
When did they change from W212 to W213?
Didn’t do my homework, sorry
Will sang a mod to move my thread to the correct forum.
Thx.

Yep. The 212 in the US went from 2010-2016 model years where the face-lift happened for 2014. The 2017 begins the 213 chassis.

Yeah, I looked it up in Wiki as well.
Looked at a few 213 Wagons, about $11k more expensive. Any significant new and improved differences?
(I can balrely see the difference from pictures, but I am sure a side-by-side,or nose-to-nose meeting will reveal more.)
Been away from the MB scene for a while, have not kept up. Present car is a 328 XD Wagon, white with tan interior. Good car, but I like them
slightly bigger, hence the E-class wagon caugh my eye. A new one will run about $75k with a few options, not sure if I am ready to spend that, but now
61 and retired, maybe I should live a bit....? (Already have a boat that cost me more than a new E-Wagon. How many toys can you have before wife revolts? )

One of the biggest changes will be with the interior. It's a huge leap forward, especially if you opt for the digital gauge cluster along with the 12.3" COMAND interface. I have this in my C238 coupe (based on 213 chassis) and for me it's worth the higher cost of admission. That said the 212 interior is solid, and if you like the numeric keypad (presets/phone) and whatnot it's the last of that style.

The other big change will be with the powertrain. With the S212, the base engine is the 3.5l naturally aspirated V6 @ 302hp. With the S213 (wagon) you get the 3.0l turbo V6 making 329hp and 354 lb ft of torque.

Thx for info.
Now also looking at new (W213) Wagons.
One in Naples with the Luxury 1 package, white/beige for about $70K after a $4K discount and one in Fort Lauderdale, dark grey with beige/black and the 3rd luxury package (whatever they called it) for $80k.
Guess I am old fashioned, having a hard time splurging $80k + on wheels, even if I can afford to cash one out without touching retirement accounts, etc:
Kind of hot and cold on this, worked hard for every penny and trying to have my cake and eat it too
Never seen any of these cars up front, or sat in one, hence not in love yet, but ready for an affair

2019 E-450 Wagon
Now on the roll:
Found a Costco participant in West Palm Beach, perhaps they will give me a deal on a new Wagon. Probably a 2019.
Question:
  • Mercedes-Benz Star Service Prepaid Maintenance 4 years or 40,000 miles
How much does that save as opposed to pay-as-you go?

(I am spoiled. My Beemer comes with free maintenance for 4/50,000.)
