MB car order system issues in USA

MB car order system issues in USA
Mercedes car order and configuration system has been down since last Tuesday. I hear their main computer system crashed and they are hoping it will be back on line this coming Monday. US dealers have not able to configure and place order for new cars. Wow I bet someone in the IT is under lot of pressure.

I encountered the same issue at the dealer today. All of the pages in their system just showed an error message. They were able to download and send me the order guide though.

We took delivery of an E300 today and the system issues made it difficult to sign papers and get connected to MBrace. Mercedes Me is still not working. It took hours before we could connect to the WiFi Hotspot because they couldn't get our car enabled in their system. They said this has caused significant loss to MBUSA this week.

At the dealer last week and heard the same thing, system down.
Maybe it’s Putin, mad about the pipeline.
Theyll be laughing at this Stone Age crap in a hundred years.

Outages are usually not caused by a hacker/virus/malware/etc. They are usually caused by bad planning. Surprisingly, a lot of major companies "save money" not making contingency plans for problems/disasters and figure that bad juju won't happen to them.

yes it is amazing that such great and innovative companies like Mercedes do not have disaster recovery plans and no back ups.

i also heard they are trying very hard to recover data and orders that were already in the system. I can only imagine the mess they will be in if they are not able to recover data.

Are you talking about the fire that occurred back in May?

This issue bit Mercedes in the **** last month! A 22 percent drop in sales due to this issue and other problems.
