Navigation question: Transferring contacts

I expect delivery of my 2019 E450 in December. Is there a simple way to transfer “my contacts”, (saved places) from the navigation in my 2016 E350 to the navigation in my 2019 E450?

Please keep in mind that I am not a “techie geek”, so the transfer if possible, must be relatively simple.

I'm not aware of a way to do this. BUT. You can enter the addresses in your Mercedes Me App, send them to your new car and save them their. I honestly think that would be the simplest way. Just start a list of the addresses you want to enter in advance of getting your new car.

MB is behind when it comes to moving data and settings around. There is no way to backup destinations, favorites, etc. I found out the hard way when the COMAND and other software was updated by the dealer during my first service visit. All data was lost including Bluetooth pairings, garage door coding, destinations and favorites. Restoring destinations via Mercedes me was quite time consuming because each destination must be keyed and sent individually.

COMAND has an data export/import function. Perhaps you can review the steps in the 2016 manual and hopefully it is compatible with your 2019 import function.

Thanks.

Just looked at the manual. It is over 240 pages.

Is there a "techie" guy/gal out there who can explain in easy step by steps how to do this?

As I said, I am not a techie guy and need help!

it's strange you can not operate the gps via the Mercedes me website like you can with (say) tomtom,
where you can add addresses, create favorites etc.

Also, sending addresses from Mercedes me to the car does not always work....

According to MB USA (they replied to my service inquiry) there is no way to export/import navigation destinations, etc.

Upon checking my car I found those options to be greyed out.

They are greyed out when you have no USB device installed.

OK, that worked. I did a simple test - an export; deleted a couple of navigation destinations; an import. The deleted destinations were restored. The exported data goes into several folders located in the root. Other than an xml file the data appears to be all binary in ud2 files.

I am taking delivery on my 2019 E450 on Thursday

I really do not want to lose the saved destinations in the navigation on my 2016 E 350.

I am not techie and my dealer is willing to work with me.

In simple language how can I take the destinations from my 2016 E 350 and transfer them to my 2019 E 450. If on a memory device what should I get - I have never done this before.

THANKS!

Look up thread on post #8 for a COMAND manual link and it's on page 49 "Importing/exporting data". It's pretty simple with a SD card inserted (I don't think a USB stick is supported on the 2019 as it is not on the 2018 E400).

Let us know if it is compatible.

Mike, I was able to transfer COMAND data to a USB flash drive. When my dealer updated the version of COMAND, the service advisor asked for the flash drive to import my old data.

Dear Cambridgehank:

As I have been posting, I am not a techie:

Could you post, giving steps that you used to transfer the saved positions from you present navigation system to the Flash drive and then how you loaded the information into the navigation system of your new Mercedes.

Thanks

I followed Mike's directions above and used the importing/exporting data function in COMAND. I am not a techie either, it was that simple even I did it.
