I'm extremely biased having previously led the teams that built all of the current and next-gen Audi MMI technologies. Despite my allegiance, I have an E63S Wagon on order, solely as a **** you to my colleagues at AoA who won't bring over the RS6 Avant. If it were sold here, I wouldn't be buying the E63S. The technologies in the new A6/A7/A8/Q8 are leaps and bounds better than anything Mercedes has an offer currently. VAG still edges out MBUX by a fair bit. The gap will grow once Audi finally ships Audi AI for semi-autonomous driving.
I left VAG due to the diesel emissions issue and have protected whistleblower status. Woo. Take it from an insider, VAG isn't the only bad actor. The things I've seen will make many want to dust off their bicycles.

I'm interesting in that as well, especially since virtually none of us have had an opportunity to try MBUX in any car in the US. The 2020 GLE isn't out and the A class isn't either. Those are the only two cars that will offer MBUX in this model year.

EQC 4matic AMG line Premium Plus replacing S213 220d 4matic with airmatic
Is the only difference in mbux that there is some touchscreen facility? Have to say i am not keen on touchscreens in cars but at least in the air suspension mb's you might hit the right icon more times than not. In an astra (opel an old gm brand now french owned) i had on loan this year it was hard to hit it right when travelling along as your body was bouncing around too much😂😂
i love tech but frankly all operating systems from ibm mainframes ( shows my age) crappy windows to ios and android have glitches.....i do think mb maybe a little slow in development compared to others which might reflect their company ethos of trying to get it right before launch and their conservative approach. But actually they are all a variation on a theme and i suspect our preference for one over another is just down to what we get used to. I am with others in that despite enjoying tech i would be loathe to have to get used to another system given i amnot fully conversent with command yet!
just to comment on a previous poster re vag not being worse than others re emission tests i accept all have worked to make the best of the test system but only vag so far have been found to have taken a deliberate corporate decision to try to cheat ie go beyond just meeting the letter of the law. I will be happy to alter my view re vag if any other manufacturer is prosecuted. I also accept it is a very complex area and that control software used to deal with varying climatic conditions has in some cases been referred to as cheat software when that was not its intention. I understand the vag went beyond that. Complex but i still think audi are very well constructed cars that look good but for me the mechanics still feel less high quality....

the thread title is "Audi A6 is better right now" (bolded is mine)
And the former VAG engineer's comment that I was replying to is " The technologies in the new A6/A7/A8/Q8 are leaps and bounds better than anything Mercedes has an offer currently " (also, bolded is mine)
MBUX is not on offer on any E classes in N. America.

I will give kudos to Audi‘s semi-autonomous driving efforts. Pretty exiting...
That said, biggest complaints in Germany is the touch surface environment on the new Audis. Nothing worst than a mirror surface with a milion fingerprints on it
In regards to the Diesel scandal I don’t care for your insinuations; so far VAG has been the main culprit by a long shot and will have to deal with this for some time to come.
The resulting test methods at least help in developing cleaner running engines...

We have a new Q7 etron and I do not think the infotainment system is better. It’s actually not that intuitive. It’s workflow as I call it isn’t great and back buttons don’t go to the right screens, side swipes could be connected to better functions etc.
We have software developers at work and left alone, they would create the most technically brilliant stuff that wouldn’t be used by anyone! Just because it’s technically good doesn’t mean it’s good!
BMW’s idrive is the most user friendly system out there in my opinion.
I also think the Audi looks dull inside and outside and don’t really care for touchscreens other than maybe zooming in and out on sat nav.

MB, the choirboys of the auto industry
I'm with you on this. VW/Audi/Porsche will not get a dime of my money. I'm sure the Audi A6 does some things better than Mercedes E. And I'm equally sure Mercedes E does some things better than the A6. If someone thinks the A6 is better for them, they should buy one. My money stays with Mercedes. I've never been let down and while they are of course profit driven, as they should be, they've never done anything like what VW did in the name of corporate greed. It was shameful.
MB is that all the oily things MB has done over the years, haven’t been found out yet.
But if you do some homework you’ll find out that MB did the same thing to their Diesel engines that Audi did. Check out the NHSTA
website and you’l Find it’s true.

Audi has never gotten away from those big, ugly, front grills. It's styling over the years mimics the Edsel. If a car doesn't look good to me, there's no incentive to even consider it.
