Parking camera question
Hi!
When I picked up my 2019 E450 Cab, I almost immediately found a feature I loved.... when I got too close to something and the proximity sensors went off, the “Overhead” camera AND the front camera would automatically come up on the screen...
This was great because I could immediately see if my bumper was going to get ripped off my parking space pylons!
In the last week, something changed somehow. Now, only the “Overhead” camera appears and I have to press the camera button again to get the front camera to appear.
I have looked all over the menus and I cannot see any setting that changes the mode that the front camera automatically come up in. Even went back to the dealership and they couldn’t figure out why it stopped coming up.
Anyone have any ideas/

the 1st view never happens with my car/camera, only the second.
in order to get the 1st view automatically, you first have to put in reverse and then forward

2018 S560 and 2019 E450 Wagon.
I noticed this very thing. Sometimes when I pull up to something close like a curb or what not the front camera automatically comes on with is great then I can guide the car in to park inches ahead of the curb. Other times, more times than not, just the overhead view comes up on the screen but if I immediately push the large center jog knob in then the front camera turns on, I pretty much get in the habit of just doing that everytime the front camera does not come on buy itself. Like you said, I've search through all the settings and can find no reason for this rare occurrence when the front camera activates by itself, like I said most of the time just the overhead view activates.

I've noticed that the front viewing sensor doesn't always trigger the front view because an obstacle is too far away - more than 3 or 4 feet.
I've started manually turning on the camera and selecting a view as I approach a parking spot.

Either you were in reverse first, or dealer clicked mouse when overview came on. Mind does the same thing! It detect ssomething near car then only overhead comes on. I click the mouse and other camera comes on

When we owned the 2018 E400 Convertible, we had numerous issues with the camera sensors (front and back). The rear camera was replaced as well as its entire wiring. Do not rely entirely on the sensors. At one time, my wife drove up to a parking concrete spacers and the sensors NEVER went off! Needless to say, it cost us $900. to repair the front apron and fender alignment. This also happened to another person with similar 2018 E400 convertible with same result. Right now even with our 2019 CLS 450, the front sensors are temperamental at best. So be careful how used them and how much faith you place on them.

This is good thinking. I selected away from dynamic because it generally does nothing most of the time. But this one little feature might be worth it.

Same here, I tried it and doesn't work. From day one, my 2019 E300 always had to push the command knob to get the front camera split screen after the overhead sensor view comes on. I would love to know how to get it to activate automatically.

Took it into the dealership. They said it’s supposed to not come on automatically. They tested it with three other E classes there and all did the same thing. Only overhead cam, click for front cam.
