I read somewhere (a few months ago) that a lot of people were having problems actually using the feature because of the app. I would have thought/hoped they'd rectify any issues as surely they would need to for customers that already have this feature, instead of pulling the plug on the latest cars.

I agree with you. I would certainly love to use it with my garage as well. We're hoping as rbrylaw as pointed out here in the US., that ATT get's it act together and eventually updates the ME Connect app so we can have this feature. It's one of the reasons I bought the car, and was disappointed to learn it wasn't available as advertised.

That's interesting....

Makes you wonder why they would remove this from a market where it was previously offered....

Regulations are constantly in flux. Can you imagine making cars for the world? Hell, gas refinery regulations in the US on a state by state basis are bad enough.

You need to drive a 2019 MB. I had a 2018 and the 2019 is much better, does not come out of lanes, takes corners 100 percent better and does not flukey things like my 2018 did like try and cut off exit ramps on highways, that setup was down right dangerous. I really like the adaptive cruise in both my new 2019 Cabriolet and Wagon. I'm not sure exactly what MB did whether adding more sensors or just software, if just software I'd hope they would be able to upgrade the 2018's but MB is famous for not wanting to do that sort of thing when it probably could be done. No complaints from me though on the current Distronic setup, lots of complaints on my 2018 E63 AMG Distronic. I did not feel comfortable at all with that setup.

I love MB and would only consider Tesla for only one reason. Your car is not obsolete as soon as you drive off the lot. I had a 2015 C300 with Distronic and it was the greatest until the 2017 E came out. Ended up getting the 2017 E300 and walla, it’s already obsolete. I refuse to get another MB until they start thinking about their customers money. Should not have to change your car ever year or two to get the latest technologies if you have already invested heavily in the hardware that makes that possible. Not that I would consider a Tesla only because of that technology. Not crazy about any other aspect of the car

I'm 100% with you here. I purchased a 2018 E400S in May; the advice from other other forum members advice is get a 2019; my car is only 7 months old and its obsolete? My wife has a Tesla M3 which I drove last night on a 40 mile round trip on minor roads, and for 90% Autopilot handled poor lane markings, steep curves, etc with confidence, where on the same roads 2018 Drive pilot fails abysmally. That said, the interior of the E400 is much nicer than the Tesla, the build quality is better, and some aspects of the E400 (automatic high beams, climate control, blind spot monitoring) are way better in the E400. My choice would be a Mercedes build, with Tesla software, and free over the air updates.

I 2nd that, almost 20 years with MB. They need to get their act together. Hopefully the EQ models will adopt this technology.

They discontinued the web based app which had more features than the standard phone app. (like geo-fencing)
those features can now only be accessed via the web page….
seems we're going backwards...

The web based app is alive and well, including geo-fencing here in the US.

Egonvdv 12-15-2018 10:35 AM

ok, it seems no so bad: can just create a shortcut for the website and this works ok as it adapts to the phone.

but we can no longer send several addresses to the car, which can be then called up from the list (POI)
( these addresses are saved on a server)

we can only send one address from the ME app which pops up on screen as soon as you start the car..
although half the time the address is never received by the car (its only send directly to car, not to server)

it's a pitty, cos creating a address list at home is great for when going on holidays etc....

Egonvdv 12-19-2018 09:46 AM

does anybody know how sending/downloading POI works now? Cos it seems this feature no longer exists on the website,
and thus the app in the car is completely useless now????

I very often have difficulty with sending addresses. From Mercedes Me Connect, it doesn't often find the desired POI but for the ones that it does, it sends them well. From Google Maps, it finds the POI but often is unable to send to car, generally saying that the POI has no address. Ugh. This is why Google Maps Android Auto interfacing with the NAV itself would be awesome. Dreams.

Egonvdv 12-19-2018 10:15 AM

you are talking about sending ONE address directly to the car. and indeed often the address doesn't arrive.

but i'm talking about sending addresses to the server, which you then download with the car's "POI app"
This always worked flawless, but apparently MB decided to delete the whole option...

Every week something changes on their website, which btw is also slow as sh*t...

nycebo 12-19-2018 10:18 AM

Ah, I never even thought to do that because I figured that Comand could access my phone book OR the internet to look up an address. It generally fails at both. So I guess the POI was a decent workaround...until it wasn't. Maybe they are rolling out a cool new feature replacement.

I have not had any issues with Send2Benz on my cellphone. I just tried it and it arrived in the car quickly.

Egonvdv 12-19-2018 10:31 AM

unfort send2benz is only for you USA guys
i sent several addresses directly to the car just now with the app and they did all arrive.
but the car only asks me if i want to drive to that destination, (NOT if i want to safe it to the car)
and if i say "yes" then the next address pops up and it asks again if i want to go there.
so we can no longer plan a "roadtrip", which was an extremely handy feature

stephos 12-19-2018 10:34 AM

I'm going to try this tonight in my car

stephos 12-20-2018 05:15 AM

OK so I tried this yesterday and it worked exactly as it should.

I had sent an address to the car from the app on my phone, and after starting the car a few hours later, a message popped up on screen as I'd hoped. No need to look for it, no waiting - quite efficient.

Egonvdv 12-20-2018 09:48 AM

yes this still works for me too...
basically it sends the address STRAIGHT to the car without it being stored on a server.
the problem is that you can not create a list this way (for instance when you go on holiday)

that WAS possible via the website; the addresses would be stored on a server and you'd call the list up with the "POI app" in the car.
The app is still there, but no way to send anything to it.. - (not here in Europe anyway)
