E450 Fuel tank capacity

I just noticed after filling up the car that fuel tank capacity is 66L as opposed to what was advertised : 80L. However, on Mercedes Benz USA's website (I'm canadian) it says the fuel tank capacity is 21.1 gallons or approximately 80L. Do the ones built for USA have a larger fuel tank capacity than the Canadian one or is it an error?

The Canada Mercedes site advertises 66L, the MBUSA site: 80L.

I remember reading somewhere that the larger tank is an upgrade option on some models in some places.

In Sweden 80l is the standard för the e450, 66l for lesser models. Maybe region dependent?

When the low fuel light goes on there is usually about another couple of gallons of fuel left - that probably accounts for the difference.

Dont think that is the reason. Reserve is 7 litres or just under 1 gallon according to handbook.

Both 66l and 80l have 7 litre reserve.

From memory, I think larger tank is available with larger engines - probably to give similar overall distance?

The reserve is just under 2 US gallons (~1.86 gallons). IIRC the first W213 with an 80 litre tank was the E43. I tried to add one to my E300 factory order but it was rejected.

The USA E450 CAB model definitely has a 21 gallon tank. It's wonderful not having to fill frequently.

MY19 E450 4MATIC Coupé
I just had a look at some technical data available through the MB website and it seems that in the UK, all E coupes & cabrios have a 66l tank.

My car definitely could have done with the larger capacity tank but it wasn't an option.

E400 Wagon
On average I put in 75l into my E wagon in Canada. 66l seems rather small.

If the reserve is 7l that would be 2 gallons not 1.

My sedan only takes 60 or so before it tops off. I think the order guide I had was outdated and it was for the I6 E450 instead of the V6.

I think it’s just region/model dependant how large of a tank you get. I miss the 80L tank on the X5 since we got 700km range without having to fill up.

I miss it, my consumptions 12.6L/100km on the E450 and on a full tank the range is only 500km. It’s fine for everyday use but if I go on a road trip I’ll have to fill up more often.

I would’ve paid extra for an 80L or even 100L tank to be honest

+1

My driving is at low speed. I have yet to get more than 18 mpg. The tank is not large enough for me to visit Everglades National Park and return to the coast because there is no premium (top tier) fuel available other than on the coast. Instead I rent a car for the trip.

My mistake, but the sedan does have a larger tank. On this Mercedes Benz website the tank capacity for a 2019 E450 is 21.1 gallons.

It is wonderful isn't it? I never had a 21.5 gallon tank til I got the E450 Sedan and it is so nice not having to fill it up so frequently.

I have a 2019 E450 with the 21 gallon tank.

Just returned from Vermont where my average MPG was 33 + (no yelling: on REGULAR). After fill up projected range is 692 miles! (Of course I like to stop every 1 1/2 for a "bathroom break"). Nice to be able to go 450/500 miles between fill ups and still have 100/150 miles still in reserve!

You cannot get this range on the 4 cylinder with the small 17 gallon tank!

So true. I noticed that too. And people always say OH.. ITS 6 CYLINDER!!!! Worse on gas. When i tell them the gas I get on this they're stunned. Compared to my four cylinder GLC Coupe I had before.
