it sounds sort of like when you have loud distortion coming out of a speaker, and at 1st i though that was actually it.

but now i think it comes from behind the dash (Passenger side).

It doesn't happen very often, and it only lasts for about 2-3 seconds, so difficult to pinpoint.

I can not really describe it better as distortion/shrieking, or maybe grinding - But it's very loud!

I have read something about this in a German forum. It had to do with a Comand software-update. Did you have one?

 

yes i did have the update , but i think it sometimes happened before that as well
do you know in what way it was supposed to be related to said FW update, and if a fix was mentioned?

 

Some reported that they had these sounds after a Comand update to 3.75 or 3.76. Most of them said that the sounds were incidental and disappeared. I have just searched the topic on the German form but I found nothing about a fix. Apparently the issue was not permanent.

have to go for a service B anyway, so will point it out, but guess it's gonna be one of those "when we tested we didn't hear anything" discussions.
