Great fuel mileage for a big car 👍🏼
Just got back from a nearly 1500 mile round trip to France. Car fully laden and very heavy going out 52.3mpg and coming back was towing large trailer 48.7mpg. This is in my 2019 E220 Estate (Wagon).

In Eco mode, I'm averaging around 32 MPG and in comfort mode, about 29MPG. I'm really amazed for the size and power of the E450 CAB I can average these results. On a bad stop and go day, drops to about 25-26....still not bad!

Those are great figures you're getting out of the diesels.
On a seperate note, for the chaps from the UK, how did you get your cars across the channel?
I want to do a trip myself but am concerned about getting the car over....

2018 S560 and 2019 E450 Wagon.
I use to have a VW Diesel Golf Wagon, I regularly got around 50 mpg out of that. The problem in the States now is diesel is so darn expensive it would take a lot of the savings away. I get around 29 highway with my wagon and plenty of power 362 hp out of the gas V6 so am very happy with that. Gas here in FLA is around 2.17 per gallon and diesel is generally over 3 dollars per gallon.

I usually go on the ferry (90 mins) as I have quite a long drive to the port and can get some rest on the boat. Quite a bit cheaper too. With a ‘Season Ticket’ crossings are about £40.

Oh wow.
I didn't know you could put it on the train. better yet, that you can stay with the car to look after it
I'm waiting for the weather to brighten up, and to see how travel might be affected by brexit, then I'm off on a trip!

interesting. In E mode on the highway with no stops the best I have ever made in my E450 Cab is 29mpg. I wonder how yours is squeezing that extra 3mpg out. Is yours 4matic?

No, it is not. I'm sure I gain a few MPG not having it. I find using Distronic adds to the mileage gains as well.

mine is a 4matic. Maybe that’s a bit of the discrepancy. I use Distronic all the time on the highway. Still a bit of puckering sometimes when traffic slows or stops abruptly, but I’m beginning to trust, more and more, that it’s not going to slam me into the back of someone!

Yeah, the 4matics are heavier cars so it absolutely makes sense that fuel consumption would take a hit.
So where exactly is this "dead man's curve"? My wife has family in Solon near Cleveland and we might be paying them a visit. I might want to check out this dreaded curve myself!

What? That's a normal highway in NYC!
Check out our dead man curves on the Bruckner approaching to the elevated portion (I-287). It causes chaos every morning.
Also, check out our awesome signs!

What I didn't show ya was the curve itself...it's almost a full 90 degree turn, that isn't very gradual. Every town has it's version, but this one has claim an inordinate amount of accidents from cars and trucks not able to handle it....
We do have plenty of signs to warn you though.
