I was mostly going 65 to 70. Avg is lower because of some traffic. Drove 640 miles total today same avg as in picture. Was trying to get it up to 33 the last 100 miles in eco mode coasting and powering up but would not budge off the 32.6 mpg.
Wow what a great drive back to New England from Fla. Best drive ever in any car I’ve had. This Cabrio rocks. Plus averaged 34.5 mpg today at 70 with the top down. Very smooth and nice feeling car.
LOL I am so jelous of the $$ savings on that trip per the MPG’s. I think if I ever get to go as high as 20MPG I’ll buy a lotto ticket because of that will be lucky as heck.
I wish we still got diesels here in USA. I miss my 2015 vw golf wagon TDI. That’s about what I use to get with that. In the 50s. VW is back in the news here in the USA. They are going after them again especially the former CEO Winterkorn.

Just my $,02 (opinion only)
Before the scandal I thought diesel was the way to go: 50mpg, low emissions and with further development I was sure that 75 mpg with low end torque was on the horizon. Who needed hybrids or EVs?
Then reality set in: those mpg numbers came with a huge cost.
I was looking a VW SUV's two years ago: then my wife pointed out "There must be consequences for criminal acts": I believe she was correct.
I’m still waiting for the movie to come out. I heard Leonardo DiCaprio bought the movie rights I dunno what ever happened with it. It’s been 4 years. VW bought back my golf. I drove it 24 k miles for free. They gave me what I bought it for new.

Sometimes principal is more important than what something costs:
VW, Audi and Porsche (and possibly others) KNOWINGLY falsified tests all in the name of corporate profit and greed.
Worse is the fact that those falsified tests spewed millions of pounds of known carcinogens into the atmosphere affecting the well being of millions of unsuspecting people.

The Hoaxwagon scandal and it's claims of "clean diesel" are so reminiscent of the "clean coal" myth perpetrated here in the US. Even the CEO of the largest coal company in the US admits it's a lie.
I was looking forward to trading my E300 for the straight six, but now I'm going to wait for the all electric EQ E class arriving soon (not the EQC).
That said electricity is sometimes more costly than gasoline. Most comparisons include taxes on gas but exclude taxes on electricity.

My observations:
Most EV calculate electricity at between $.07 and $.10 per KWH.
Here on Long Island (because of the closed Shoreham Nuclear Power Plant - actually never opened but we must still pay for it and high property taxes) we pay $.23 KWH probably the highest or one of the highest rates in the country.
Using Tesla as an example, their Model S using a 100 KW battery and range of 330 miles, means that it will cost $23 ($.23 times 100) in electricity to drive 330 miles or $.0697 (round off to $.07) per mile.
Assuming my E450 on average gets 22 mpg and gasoline cost $3.00 per gallon, the cost per mile is $.1364 (round off to $.14) per mile.
To the Tesla you must add in the cost of the home 220 volt charger plus installation, another $1500. Assume you drive 10,000 miles per year for 3 years that is 30,000 miles. That is an additional $.05 per mile.
As you can see on Long Island there is no cost savings on an EV vs. E450 for the first 30,000 miles. Thereafter the EV will be more cost efficient.
Other parts of the country where electricity is cheaper, the cost savings occur at a lower mileage.
The main reason to own a Tesla, or other EV, is that it is "green" and the acceleration - not cost advantage. The downside is "range anxiety" and if you are in accident waiting, sometimes months, for spare parts.

I drive a 2018 E400S; my wife drives a Tesla M3. There are two additional areas where the Tesla beats my car hands down.
1st the Tesla autopilot software is years ahead of MB based on my side by side evaluation.
2nd, for in city commuter driving with stop and go traffic, Tesla efficiency with regenerative braking also trashes my E400. For long distance driving I have been very pleasantly surprised by the E400 and can get well in excess of 30 MPG (closer to 33-34) on Interstate at around 65-70 mph.
Build quality and design in E400 is way better than M3, but the instant and sustained acceleration in a dual motor M3 (& we don't have the sports version) is amazing.

People, batteries aren't green. Making them is also a dirty noxious business. And the electricity generation to charge that battery predominantly comes from disgusting coal, or if we're lucky, natural gas. Shame we didn't invest further in nuclear in the 70s and 80s.
Until solar is really prolific, if you're driving, you're polluting one way or another. That's the beauty of commuting by bicycle in the city.

These materials can remain radioactive and dangerous to human health for thousands of years. Heaven help your survival in case of a melt down! Chernobyl and Three Mile Island anyone?

That is true for the typical high pressure solid fuel nuclear power plants. It is not true for the molten salt low pressure plants.

Just got back from going to Vermont and back.
Do not know how I did it: 33.1 mpg at average speed of 59 mph: had cruise control set at 72 and there was some local driving and that is why the average speed is only 59.
Yep these cars are amazing. I notice runs 30 degrees hotter than the amg did. 205 vs 175 and much more efficient.
I drove from New Jersey to North Carolina today. I left this morning @ 4:30AM and arrived @ 1:10 PM. That's 8 hrs & 40 mins without stopping. Full tank of gas and achieved 557 miles @ 34.0 mpg. Trip was 544 miles @ 35.1 mpg. . I still don't believe it Fuel economy
Great. That’s interesting. Looks like you on the progressive screen but it looks different than my 2019 e450 wagon and I do have the dual screen. My car does not have the car in the middle and the road in the middle. Also your trans mode (p d n) is off to the right. Maybe there is some setting I don’t know about or things are different if your car is not the E450.
