Command Screen

I understand wireless CarPlay will be in next iteration of Comand I.e. MBUX? My wife’s new Mini already has it and the graphics stream fine. It is much more convenient than having to hook up a cable all the time.
Having said that I really like the MB Nav as it is - classy graphics, very accurate and simple to use for favourites and predictive routing. Love it when combined with a Mercedes Me for sending routes in advance or even via BlueTooth when in car to send from phone to screen.

Just an observation:
If you use Mercedes ME for sending routes in advance, then instead you can enter your destination into WAZE, use your USB cable to connect to the digital screen. Difference in time: less than 20 seconds.
It all comes down to what you prefer: the real time of WAZE, which I find quite accurate, or the "real time" of MB navigation, which I believe, but not 100% sure, is Sirius radio based and I have found is not really "real time" and not as up to date as WAZE.
I find the graphics on WAZE sufficient for my use and I give priority to the "real time" of WAZE and/or Google Maps over any incremental benefit of the graphics on MB Navigation.

Yep, BMW (including Mini) is the only carmaker to support wireless CarPlay (via WiFi) so far. But they don't support Android Auto at all -- even with a cable. All other makes, including MB, have gone with wired Apple and Android support first and will add wireless at a later date. Currently, MBUX doesn't support wireless CarPlay but MB has promised it for the future. No dates given, they are clearly feeling the heat of BMW. It's also not clear that the 2021 (for US) W213 facelift will include MBUX at all.

Query:
Do you use MB navigation or Waze?
I have tried both and find Waze much, much better - far better with up to date traffic than MB navigation so much so, I never even bother with MB navigation.
Basically I find MB navigation useless and wonder why Mercedes (and other car manufacturers as well) even bothers: reminds me of 25 years ago when cars had built in telephones (very, very expensive) which were then replaced by cell phones!
WIth Apple play, I find Waze map on my digital screen fantastic!
Just my $.02.

The guidelines on my screen are actually a Wallpaper from a guy in Japan, who makes some of the coolest Wallpapers for iPhone. I like the simplicity of the wallpaper and it also shows exactly where to swipe for gestures, such as Control Center and Search. Plus it puts a box around each folder or app and add visiual interest to the notch. If anyone's interested, here is a link to the developers site: https://heyeased.weebly.com/

The phone is sitting securely in a WeatherTech Phone Cup Holder. It's really nicely made. Here's a link to it on Amazon and you can read my review: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

No it can't. If I park out in a public lot, I just pull the phone cup holder up and put it in the side door compartment, where it's unseen by anyone walking by. It's as easy as putting a cup in the cup holder.

I tried loads of phone mounts, the Scosche Magicmount Pro Vent, turned out to be the one that worked the best... simple magnet, you can literally toss the phone onto the dash and it mounts, I tuck a black usb to lighting cable in under the ambient led light from the centre console up to the dash and plug in if I need to.

Looks good, but to me the location is not ideal. It basically places the phone behind the steering wheel. I'm glad it works for your needs though. Where my phone sits, it's to me easier to interact with the phone (which I will only do when the car is not in motion). Since the only reason I wanted to have the phone accessible is for Apple Car Play, I am able to put the phone in the holder and use a very short Lightning to USB cable, which doesn't drape around.

The cradle the phone hangs out in is fully adjustable for the exact size of your phone. It opens width wise by a knob that you lock in once you've expanded it to fit the size of your phone. My iPhone is the Xs Max, so the cradle with fit just about any size phone out there.
