cannot load contacts from cell

2018 E300

cannot load contacts from cell

All of a sudden my contacts cannot be loaded from cell phone. Was working fine until today. Cell is Pixel 2 running latest version of Android.

Reboot your Pixel phone and it will likely load your contacts when it comes back up.

Been there, done that, still no good. Doesn't show previous calls either. Also tried unpairing and repairing, but that did not work either.

Then you should reach out to Google for assistance. Anytime my contacts haven't loaded from my iPhone Xs Max, a simple reboot solved it.

Do the other phone functions work through COMAND such as text notifications, voice phone calls (incoming & outgoing), ...

Problem Solved

It was my phone, not the MB. I found that Contact permissions were turned off in my Bluetooth settings for the Mercedes connection. How it got changed is a mystery, but once I allowed Contacts to be shared, they appeared in the phone app.

already:
deleted / reconnected phone
hard reboot comand
checked settings under Bluetooth profile

My car is at the dealer ...again

they gave me a 1 year old E class as a loaner and this car does the same thing with my contacts

so i guess the problem is on the phone's end…?????

Try going to bluetooth menu in phone, find the car listed and then the ‘i’ next to it. Ensure the slider for contacts is green. Often this gets reset after phone software update.

I am running ios 13.3 currently.

it resolved itself. no idea how….
try to delete & reconnect:
delete both in car & under bluetooth in phone.
then do hard reboot of phone & comand,
then reconnect

I ended up taking the car to the dealer and they got it to work. I don't remember exactly what they did but what I do remember is that they un-paired the phone from the car after loading the contacts and then re-connected the phone and that worked.

I figured out a fix.

Go to Settings, Bluetooth, then click the “i” icon by proper MB connection listing.

Make sure “all contacts” is the only group with a check mark (no recents, no other groups).

Then go to the COMAND telephone settings. Go into contacts. De-select “sync contacts automatically.” Instead, do a manual sync from the COMAND.

All contacts should then sync. Afterward, you can re-select the automatic sync option on the COMAND.

Voila.

(Obviously you have to be in the car with a BT connection to complete these steps).
