I am soon getting my new E300de estate obisidian black with AMG styling. I want to switch the "grey" part of the grill to black, as is delivered with night package.
Is it easy to pull out the old one and fit the new one? Do one have to take off the entire front bumper?
how long does this job take? Can i do it myself, or do i have to have it done by dealer?
Changing the grill requires removing the bumpers, which according to some on the forum is very easy and to others is a bit complicated. If you are comfortable working with cars go for it, otherwise have a shop do it. I would also looking in to just wrapping the grey parts or instead buying and installing diamond grill (like the e43) as it looks nicer.
Just completed this swap last night with a friend in 2 hours time. We both have experience with these cars and removing things so it was very straight forward. I also have the front camera and distronic radar cruise. Just make sure to unplug the battery before removing anything or you will have codes / lights.
I also suggest buying new chrome strips for the new black grill as well. Swapping the originals is a nightmare. They are only like $20 / each and there are 4 total. They just pop right in the new grill. Some before & after shots:

My car is a leasing car, and having it swapped at a dealer, will cost a lot of money I think...
i tried to get it wrapped, but they couldn’t get the 3M wrapping to stick to the plastic part.
