Thanks, Martin, I just posted pics in the picture thread at the top of the forum. I appreciate the kind thoughts.

Question: when do you think is the latest I can order a 2020 E450 wagon? I still have some time on an S550 lease and want to switch to a wagon, but I'm not feeling great about the look of the 2021 redesign. I'm in Los Angeles in case that's relevant.

I was able to use the $3,500 August corporate discount from my employer and the dealer claimed that it could not be "stacked" with the $3,000 August incentive. (Per the wording in the corporate discount brochure, it appears to say the same thing, but I really hate taking the dealer's word for anything like that...two dealers told me the same thing, but I still struggled with taking their word for it.) In the end,, I figured it this way - the total discount was $8,500 - so even if they stacked them without telling me, they still needed to dig in their pockets for a few thousand to get me to the number I was looking for. I ended up with a sub $900 lease payment, including discounted two year prepaid maintenance, window tint (and a few things of dubious value like nitrogen in the tires) with $2K out of pocket. MB Finance also forgave the last 4 payments on my E300, even though I just made a payment, so I am getting a $788 refund from them. Net net, I felt like a solid deal without having to travel or do anything heroic.

Just purchased the same (or near so) car yesterday; 19 E450 Estate Wagon fully optioned including the designo Black / Grey Titanium Nappa Interior which is really what sold me on it vs. the standard leather or MB-Tex.

2018 S560 and 2019 E450 Wagon.
Very nice. That’s what my next wagon will be the Napa like yours plus the multicontour seats. Probably order once the 2021 order sheets come out next spring. I’m figuring the only way to get nappa plus multicontour and loaded is an order. I’m just hoping they don’t go hybrid on the 2021 cars. I’m not ready to burn at this point in my life.

She's a beauty - I am rolling on MB-Tex, so I am really admiring your Designo nappa leather interior - that is really nice. Congrats and enjoy it!! (I'd at least like leather in my next one, but there were a ton of wagons - even highly optioned ones - with MB Tex.) I definitely see why you had to order yours...

They’re both beauties and nearly identical to mine as well. I call it storm trooper edition.

Nope. Purchased in Houston from MB Sugarland. They ordered 3 with the designo interior. 1,selenite gray, 1 lunar blue and 1 designo diamond white. There are 5 MB dealers in the Houston metropolitan area, and MB Sugarland is the only independent one.

2018 S560 and 2019 E450 Wagon.
Wow gonna get online and do a search. If I could find a 2019 loaded to the gills I might be tempted to trade my 2019 with mb Tex and base seats. The interior of mine is a little too dark for my liking too. Brown with dark brown wood. Depressing. Lol. Might be a good time to do it while my car is still under 20k miles. Got 17k on it now. Plus I really don’t want a hybrid either and if I wait for a 2021 that’s what it’s going to be. So maybe a new 2019 or 2020.

they are not affiliated with an auto group such as Carnax, Autonation, or even Cargurus, etc. the dealership is an authorized Mercedes dealership yet privately owned and therefore have more flexibility in terms of their inventory and their pricing.

IMO, The problem with the auto groups , i.e. big chains is that at the individual dealer level their hands are tied in terms of both lot sales inventories and capped pricing set by their corporate procurement divisions. The big auto groups such as Penske, Lithia, Sonic, etc. took all the authority away from the local participating Dealers in terms of what gets order for lot sales (i.e. store inventory) and what the minimum discount can be (or in the case of us as consumers', what the max discount can be).
The quasi-office managers at the local dealerships who are members of these auto groups really have no authority to negotiate the selling price below what the corporate procurement group (or whatever they are called) has set the price at. Any margins in between go to the dealer itself so they are far less competitive than the smaller, home town, family owned independent dealers. Today the auto business is all about gross volumes on a nationwide a scale and little to do with the individual purchasing an automobile,(i.e. single unit/customer).
All that said, establishing one's self as a repeat customer with an independent dealer takes time, i.e. many years, many cars but ultimately leads to getting the best deals to be found.
It's a savage market that unfortunately for us (consumers) is lead by these auto groups. Here is a link that speaks to the auto group industry today;
