Good read, also in some parts of the world you can order the E300 with non run flats. So the real question is - when testing/ building the e300 are they tuning the suspension with run flats or non - run flats? There is no way they are making 2 different suspensions just to accommodate both.

Busy conversation. The issue I have is minor road indentations in NYC cause major noise and shock. like in the past when I hit a deep pothole. Car is new, 700 miles on it, and I go out of my way to avoid flat looking sewer grates, etc. What concerns me is , if I'm away from home and I get a flat.

I'm looking forward to seeing how my wagon rides with non runlflats in the future. One thing I notice is on my cabrio when the car was new last October they filled the tires with Nitrogen at the dealership, I guess that would not account for any ride difference? I'm just trying to figure out why my wagon rides so much worse than my Cabrio being the same tires and all. You look at the 19 inch tires and they sure are low profile. I'm thinking maybe that air suspension the wagon is just really stiff in the rear. Thats one reason I'll never get air suspension again. I guess I'll ask the dealer to check it in 3K miles at the 20K service although they will probably just say everything is fine I'm sure.

Bingo!

Air suspension - at least in my opinion

You don’t have a choice in the wagon, though. The rear is always air suspension.

And yet adding the Air Body Control on a Wagon costs the same $1,900 it does on a Sedan. Must be a very different air suspension, but you'd still think there should be /some/ reduction due to the standard rear air suspension. Especially considering that the wagon base MSRP is $4,550 more than the Sedan. :-(

I'm still a bit pi$$ed that for 2020, while the E300/350 went up $550 (for both 4MATIC and RWD) even though it gets a new, higher power engine, the E450 4MATIC went up $1,600 with NO changes, and the E450 Wagon went up $1,900. Guess which one I want to buy.

.
Pricing is based on projected sales volume for a given model (or option). Each model (or option) stands alone when it comes to profit/loss analysis.

That and material/labor/regulatory/etc costs. In the current US political climate we could see a significant jump in price if tariffs are implemented.

Mike.

I would like to add that runflats probably have a place in the world but not on a 60k dollar luxury car. At least not until they make them ride comfortably and not beat the hell out of my suspension.
Wrll....I live in Thailand I have recently bought an E350e. As regards Tyre noise this is the worst car that I have ever had. The car is quiet on very good road surfaces, and Thailand doesn’t have many of these. Also the air suspension is very firm even in comfort mode and I have exclusive not the AMG. I am hugely disappointed with the car, and in Thailand these cars are vastly overpriced with the tax.
As a last resort I’m going to bin the run flats, if it’s not greatly improved then I will bin the car and take a huge hit.

agreed. the worst benz i have owned for sure. hope this new sporty suspension/engineering philosophy doesn't continue. it might be fine in their A&B lines, maybe even up to C, then E and above should be more smooth/luxurious. Its one thing if its in the real AMG lines ex e53 but not in an e300/350.
