Thermotronic vs Thermatic

Hi

Tried to find info regarding a specific difference without any luck. Do not really care about the 3 zones but would like to have a more diffuse cooling on hot days. Have Thermatic in existing car but we are planning to order a new one.

The thing is that you get most of cold air straight at you from the 6 round outlets on the dashboard and if either the driver or passenger limits their outlets then the other ones will increase the air flow and also the noice.from the air stream

Thermotronic is announced with something called "diffused mode" or something similiar. Is this what I think it is and does this address above and is it worth 1000 USD extra?

Anyone experienced both systems and prepared to share their view on this?

Thanks in advance

Sudden

It seems the diffuse mode uses the defrost (windscreen) and footwell vents to deliver a distributed, low velocity flow of temperature conditioned air. I do not like cold feet when using air conditioning, so Thermotronic doesn't sound appealing to me. For high output cooling, I set the fan to a high level and point the face-level vents away from me. This cools the cabin as a whole, without directly convecting heat off of my body.

I ordered the 3-zone Automatic Climate Control ($760 in the US) in part because the manual describes the 3 automatic modes (Normal, Diffuse and Focus) and I have been told that the modes only apply to the 3-zone. No mention here about Thermotronic or Thermatic, though. The describing quoted by chassis seems to indicate a 4-zone system, because it mentions 2 rear zones; we don't get that here (browsing through Germany's E-Configurator, there is one heck of a lot of stuff we don't get here). The fancy stuff described there sounds like something you could take advantage of in Sweden, but I can't help you with it, I'm afraid.

I notice also some references to S-Class in the link given, so wonder if some/all of these features apply to it only, and not to our E-Class machines.
