Replacement of the windshield caused the camera to be unavailable?
Hi everyone, I recently got a 2017 E300, and I noticed that almost any feature that relies on the camera is unavailable, like lane-keeping assist, active brake, steering pilot, etc.(but except traffic sign recognition).
I went to the dealership today, they were almost close so they didn't let the technician diagnose.
But the lady from the service dept told me that it was very likely that the camera had to be reprogrammed because the car windshield had been replaced before.
If it is a more serious fault, it may charge more (it also does not seem to be included in the warranty).
This reprogrammed service will charge nearly $300 and is not covered by the warranty because the windshield been replaced(I totally understand). Does anyone have a similar experience? WorkOrder from the service dept.
When the front windshield is replaced you may very well need to have the Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) related functions recalibrated. That should have been part of the procedure when they put in the replacement glass.
Just performed this today on my 2012 C200 with my Autel DS808 , camera came up with 2 fault codes when I did a auto scan of the car, I had to re-calibrate the camera, was pretty simple
I went to body shop and they can’t fix it. Then I went to the dealer twice, the first time they fixed the camera problem, I drove the car home. The second time it was raining, I found that the rain sensor was not working, so I went for a second repair. The interesting part is that they claim to have carried out a comprehensive inspection of the car every time, but for some reason they did not find the rain sensor problem the first time.
