I use the side view camera indicators when I'm turning or changing lanes. Those are in my field of vision whereas the camera display is not.

If you are meaning that a camera view appears on one of the displays, it does not. In the W214, the blind spot indicator is in the mirror. It also uses the ambient lights that will flash red on the side of the car if your blinker is on and a vehicle is near. That along with the audible beeps really grab your attention. If that's not enough, the collision avoidance will resist you and turn the wheel if necessary. No camera function though.

I wonder if that is called Evasive Steering Assist. They might had changed the term for the W214 or all bundled in one suite now.

Again, part of the reason is so the camera doesn’t keep popping in and out. Also, when I pull into my garage, the rear camera shows me when I have cleared the garage door, while moving forward. Don’t think the mirrors work for that.

Yes, if it doesn't work, try holding it, or just click the back cursor button.
