Lanzz, can I suggest you rename this tread to something along the lines of noise / rattle from rear ...bumps...etc as opposed to removing rear panel and perhaps updating the original post to reflect the issue, it might attract more attention and suggestions like Bacondudes helpful contribution above?
Ya, my car has that same rattle. I have a newer rattle somewheres towards the front of the dash too, a beefed up mustang with no mufflers was revving his car next to mine and thats when the dash rattle started, it must have loosened something up.

Space - I didn't know I could rename the title - I just tried and it didn't rename it. Interesting that there are several of us with this rattle. When time permits, I will head back to the dealer and see if they can do anything else. (Martinlarose, you told me so... :-) ) Bacon, the machine you are talking about is the "chassis ear" which my dealer says isn't helpful. Konigstiger recommended I asked about it and they weren't receptive. First thing I need to do is find a spot closer to the dealer where they can easily re-create the noise. The area the dealer is in has newer roads, so it doesn't act up over there... How frustrating, I hate this car.
The first time I went to the dealer I bought the car from they also refused and insisted they knew what it was and they claimed they fixed it and couldn’t hear it. Well, they didn’t fix it. So I then took it to an independent mechanic to check it out. He had a theory and was motivated but I didn’t commit to his idea since it was under warranty. I asked this mechanic which dealer in the area (Northern California) he recommended. It was a bit of a drive but I went to that one. I let them know the other dealer failed and the mechanic had a theory. I honestly think that lit a fire under this dealer to prove they were the best at it. I don’t know if you have a selection of dealers or mechanics around, but making them compete isn’t always bad. And if I’m the customer and I ask the dealer to look at something (or use the chassis ear) and they tell me they won’t, I’d escalate. The customer is always right and they are reflecting the brand.
Hi Lanzz i feel your pain and dissatisfaction with the car. When I had a similar problem and the dealer had given me a loaner while mine was in the shop which had absolutely no noise i became very frustrated. That is when i finally said to the dealer after 3 or so attempts at trying to fix it " you keep my car until it is fixed. It is brand new and shouldnt sound like this. Take it home and drive it until you locate the problem and solve it. In the meantime give me a loaner to take home and i will return the loaner when my car has been fixed. "..The dealer did what I had requested as you know and finally located and fixed the problem. that was when the car had only a couple of thousand KMs on it . It now has 12000 Kms snd no noise...very frustrating but the car is under warranty so take it back to the dealerand leave it until the dealer fixes it and get a loaner in the interim...
Guys have a look at this tread over on the W213 AMG forum, about S213 wagons with similar issues, no shortage of contributions pointing to the same area....
Hi Lanzz, does this sound like your issue?
I have seen this issue listed under Xentry Tips in my local MB Garage, and so my dealer is following the suggested steps to resolve it.
I had my rear shocks mounts replaced my MB as first step and it didn't fix the issue, next step is shocks to be replaced....will keep you posted.

Yes, Space, that is my issue. Is there anything like an article number or something else I can point my dealer to? They really have tried, but replacing the shock hasn't worked and "tightening some bolts" hasn't worked either. As I was driving back from the airport tonight listening to the noise, I was truly regretting my decision to get the car... Very helpful, thanks for posting.

Space, I can't thank you enough for posting this. My dealer acts like I am crazy, which I resent, but I also understand, because the noise is intermittent. I am going to take this with me on my next appointment. Interesting that the support bushing wasn't the cure for you... let me know what happens next. Best of luck in solving it.
Rear thumping was louder for last week since shock mounts where replaced, only positive was that this had to be a sign that we are in the right area the noise was emanating from.
I tried lots of things to see if I could make it different from driving on a full tank of fuel & low tank of fuel. I did notice cold mornings made it slightly more noticeable, and driving on a full tank of fuel or with a load made it slightly less noticeable. Sunroof open made no difference, so I was convinced it was nothing else except a suspension thump. Even found another victim online, https://forums.mbclub.co.uk/threads/...e-rear.258945/
I used a go pro to document the noice in the car and shared the clip with with my dealer. Anyhow, car was back in official dealer and had both shocks replaced as per Xentry Tips, and the noise is now gone!,
Delighted with this positive result. It was pointed out that the new shocks have a 2 year warranty...which was interesting.
My car didn't have this noise when I got it, it appeared gradually over 12 months. I didn't hit a pothole or do anything to bring it on. I feel and I hope this is a result of a bogey batch of shocks.
I didn't find out if there are replacement or newer shocks fitted. But I will ask a gentle man here who will know to chime in.
If you only had one shock replaced, I would encourage you and your dealer to consider trying to replace the other or both of them along with the mounts.
