Hood mechanism will not release
Hi - I’m after any hints from forum members.
I went to top up my windscreen washing fluid but the hood (bonnet) release will not open one of the catches. To be clear, I pull the lever under the dashboard and I hear a slight clunk. When I go to the front of the car, the left side of the hood (looking at the car from the front) feels slightly loose, as though it has released. However, on the right hand side it hasn’t released.
I’ve pushed the hood down again and bounced a bit on the right hand side to see if I can free it (many times) but no joy.
Apart from the obvious - head for a distant dealer - does anyone have any hints?
BTW, this is the first time I’ve tried to pop the hood since the last service, so it isn’t much used...

Get someone to help you pull the lever. I think once you let go, it relatches. Then you just pull up while they have the lever pulled. You of course can't pull on the lever and lift the hood at the same time. And make sure you have some kind of lubricant to spray on the latch afterwards.
