I was wondering if it is possible to retrofit carplay through a Mercedes dealer?. As I have the correct usb slot in the car.
When I go into the in car dealer menu it has the carplay ringtone volume. It seems like it isn’t activated in the system

Carplay availability is a function of your country (MB marketing region). It is standard in the US, but in some regions it is an option. Typically the dealer can change a configuration setting to enable the feature. Ask your dealer for information..

This is the dealer menu. You should find a way to get in the Engineering Menu, but can not being accessed easiliy (needs a passcode)

So I would assume it’s just a case of going to the dealership and getting them to activate it?

The dealer does not have this passcode (pity, but I spoke to several dealers about this), needs to come from MB.

Check out vladimircdi on ebay. I bought a activation module from him on ebay for about 250 usd, it works as described. Send him your vin and he can say if it is possible. Mercedes wont do it if it isnt optioned from the beginning.

The Dealership managed to activate carplay and android auto when I had it in the garage today

The used the Engineering Menu or some other way? Can be interesting for other to know how they did this.

They Downloaded the software from the xentry system took over 1 hour. First I bought the CarPlay retrofit from commandonline.co.uk but I never needed the part they provided as I already had it in the car. As long as the usb in the armrest has a picture of a phone then it should work.

That's a nice idea Martin but if it were that easy I suspect that second hand modules would be all over Ebay etc.
