I just refilled it with 10ml of a a normal Parfums de Marly - Haltane fragrance 10ml & 5ml of a concoction of Le Labo - Vetiver 46 & some others.
I'm wondering if I need to add any Oil to the mix or will this just be ok?
Mix with some carrier oils such as fractionated coconut oil oralmond oil. Instead of Parfums would suggest essential oil. Even though parfums are highest concentrated form of perfumes, they aren’t meant to diffuse in air but to be used on skin

fair comment, I’ll consider that when I’m refilling it again… I did enjoy my cabin smell with the upgraded scent profile, it’s due another refill, so I’d see what essential oil I’d mix with a lattafa - Khamrah which is more affordable to dump into the vial.

Thought i'd share.. i filled my flacon up with Tom Ford Neroli Portofino Forte...

It smells wonderful in the Air balancer... on low it is enough to not numb the smell out.

Tom Ford Neroli Portofino Forte decantar and mb flacon...

Thought i update, the TF Neroli Portofino Forte smelled good but even on high it was not like on the body.

So tried some Bleu de Chanel EdP..it performance was worse.

I managed to get some oil fragrance for sonic misting/diffusing...MUCH better performance.

Judging from the little i researched, the MB air balance heats the bottle up some and there is a valve that opens up after a certain pressure. So if the fragrance is not meant for oil warmer/diffusers, it probably will not work well.

Air Freshener - Fascinating Sunday morning reading.

Wow - Air freshener. Our E400 W213 wagon is our 7th Mercedes. The grandkids and my bride like the leather smell. Good enough for me.

Could a wrong product potentially damage the system, or can we just test any perfume without risk ?

and out of curiosity how does the system work exactly?
cos when you place the bottle it's just being held in place by a magnet.
i take it some sort of "connection" is is coming down on the top of the bottle ?

Well MB does sell empty containers and since it is not sonic misting the fluid... it should be ok but you mileagee will vary.

I would say to use EdP or Parfum. I would not use Eau de Toilette as that has some alcohol. Other notes is that mileage will vary as some will work ok with air balance and some won't. My guess is if the Parfum has a very strong projection, that it will work great in the MB air balance.

I used some EDP’s to fill up my canister & it’s worked brilliantly.
my refill will have a base of 2g of perfume oil & some other EDP or Parfum strength fragrance.

See my post #14. According to the article published by Fragrantica.com, all the MB fragrances were oil-based, so you should be safe. I'm not sure if it was from the Fragrantica article or elsewhere, but I believe it's recommended to avoid alcohol-based alternatives.

I’ve had Khamrah, Haltane and Bois Imperial fragrances mixed with a drop or 2 of oud oil to refill my vial, no issues and it’s luxuriously scented in my cabin now.

I was thinking of using my year old Dior Sauvage in there. But guess not.

Does anyone know how you can open the top part (cap)?

there's a screw but it's just going round and round

I'm tying to clean the bottle, but it's pretty difficult getting the lavender smell out as the oil is very sticky
