Help with Android Auto
I have a 2017 E300 and a Galaxy S9 phone. I use the phone in the car extensively via Bluetooth for calls and text. I have unsuccessfully tried to get android auto to display on the E300.
Android Auto is setup on the phone and it usually pops up on the phone when I am near the car. When I plug the phone in the correct usb port (with the Media function enabled) the display recognizes that a Galaxy S9 is attached. (The “Allow access to your data” box also appears on the phone.)
The screen on the car displays
1. On the left “Powered by gracenote.
2. In the middle “Reading USB device” and it just grinds away forever!!!!!!
3 On the right The only two available options are Devices (which shows the S9) and Sound
I have reloaded Android Auto on my phone Version 5.0 500224
Anyone know what I am doing wrong? I recall that it worked back in 2017 with an earlier Galaxy phone

You have Android Auto on the phone, but you must also turn-on Android Auto in the Comand system for both to communicate. IIRC, AA is found on the "phone" screen, then pick "Vehicle" then the rotisserie display will offer all the options, including AA. Start AA with the phone attached and it should work.
It's not unusual to try SEVERAL USB "Data" Cables to find one that works. It will have the USB symbol molded on each end connector.
