AMG High Performance engine oil on E43?
Hello everyone


is it necessary to use the AMG High Performance oil on W213 E43 AMG?

specs

SAE 0W40
MB 229.5


I have been using the regular silver bottle Mercedes oil 229.5

There are several brands of SAE 0W40 and other viscosity oil available that meet the MB 229.5 specification. Here is a list. What oil is specified in the E43 manual?

The oil in the image is no different than any other SAE 0W40 MB 229.5 oil. Once again what oil is specified in the E43 manual?

the manual says:

only 229.5 SAE 0W-40 or 229.5 SAE 5W-40

is it necessary to use the AMG version of the oil?

since the bottle I shared is different than the usual MB oil which is a Silver bottle and its more expensive than the Silver bottle.

No, you can use any 229.5 oil of the correct viscosity. AMG oil is just marketing hype.

There are 75 MB approved SAE 0W40 MB 229.5 products. You can use any of them.
