Lane changing Alert issue

When I pass a vehicle the lane changing alert in the right side (pass side)mirror does not come on all the time. Sometime it works fine and sometimes it doesn’t. How does this work anyway is there a camera in the mirror that might need lens cleaned. Or does it work with crash parking sensors on the bumpers ?? Can anyone help me here ?

no ... it’s a red arrow light on side mirror glass that alerts you when you are passing a car on highway it will go off when it’s safe to go back in the lane in front of the car you passed.

keep the blinker on and see if the sound goes on as u pass by some vehicles as a true test. I do not think it should react differently. If so, something is off - go to dealer for sure

It is a nuanced system. It uses RADAR units on both sides of the car - front and rear bumpers on the driver and passenger sides. It checks the relationship between when each respective radar unit detects an obstruction to decide whether or not to alert you. One such case is if you are quickly passing a vehicle on the left. In this case, it should not activate or warn you, as the vehicle makes the assumption that you are able to see the car that you are passing. Also, when the obstruction passes both radar units quickly, the system must distinguish between it and a false alarm, such as one caused by a wall, that should not cause the blind spot assist to warn.

The blind spot assistance system is primarily geared to warn of rear-approaching vehicles. If you're passing a vehicle slowly, it will also trigger once it's in the blind spot, but not if passing quickly.
