Hi every one. I am so excited to be part of this great MBWorld forum. This forum helped me in many ways to make a decision to buy E300 2019 model. Thanks to you all. Just picked up E300 few days ago and enjoying it. Love the smoothness, technology and the ride. One thing i noticed with my car and i wanted to ask you all this question. It has Active Break assistance and Blind spot detection. I am hoping to have Active assistance in cruise control as well. When i activate my cruise control, it shows the car in front me and the distance it is located 100ft, 200ft or 300ft. But it is not slowing down and applying the break automatically. I am not sure do i have to turn on some thing to activate the break or it does not have that option?
If it does not, will that option be turned on by the dealer? if so any idea on the cost?
I am attaching the picture i have taken to give you an idea. Any kind of feedback is greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
The active cruise control you are talking about is in the Driver Assistance Package. It is called Active Distance Assist Distronic. It seems you do not have this feature, so you only have old school cruise control. And no, it cannot be activated with the dealer. There is a whole lot of hardware associated with it, between cameras and radar sensors etc.
Hi Benjamin, Thanks for your quick response. I appreciate your feedback. Yes you are right it is active cruise control. I checked with my dealer today they checked my vin number and said that i do not have that feature. I asked him if i can get it installed, they said no. Kind of disappointing, do not know why Mercedes wont give the option to post install. Now a days this is a common feature in most of the brands.

Nothing but the best: You are correct this is becoming a standard safety feature on so many cars, many $10,000, $20,000 and even $30,000 less than a Mercedes.
But alas, this is an extra cost item on the Mercedes and I agree with you it should be standard.
