2012 E350 Cabrolet
Cracked digital climate control plastic cover


I have a mint 2012 cabriolet 20,000. The plastic on the climate control digital readout has all cracked Within the last 6 months. It has to do with the summer heat. I live in NE so it’s not the worst but the black is pretty tough when the top is down. Anyone have suggestions? If I go to a dealer are they going to charge me some outrageous amount because the have to replace the whole unit.

Shop EBay for current part # 2129008911 used, provide VIN for confirmation. Plug & play but if any problems after replacement may need to have an independent normalize using MB diagnostics. BTW 207 should be posting here: https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-c...brio-a207-141/

Um, is this just the protective film they apply to the display in the factory? Looks like it. I'd try to find a loose edge and peel it off.

I cannot imagine what would cause this, cause MB heat/freeze tests these cars long before going to production. IMA think import depot or dealer prep did not remove the film and it has crazed over time.

BTW, this thread belongs on one of the W212 forums.

Thank you.
Dealer fix was going to run some big money, I was able to find a used climate control unit in perfect shape for 75 bucks and took out the old one and replaced.

Old but gold answer. My w212 have the same problem. I also think this is just the protective film ... Any solution ?
