Hey! Auto high beams are now available as a stand alone option on the facelift E Class, no longer requiring the high end lighting package. Curious to know if it’s just software, and if one could pay the dealer to update it post delivery if the vehicle doesn’t have that option. Thanks!

I believe there is an optical sensor needed by the rear view mirror assembly, so I don't think it's just a software upgrade.

It requires at least one multi-function camera to be present on the car. This is available as part of the driver assistance package (stereo cameras), or in packages that have only lane keeping assist (single camera) - at least, that's how it used to be. It's possible that all new 213 facelift models come with at least one multifunction camera.
