Audio off when engine off, can it be done?

For the RTFM junkies out here, is there any way to have the audio shutoff when the engine is shutoff at park? Currently, my car continues to play audio until I open my door. I went digging in the menus and didn't come up with anything.

Thanks!

Press the start/stop button once more with your foot off the brake to turn off the ignition. It's effectively the same as removing the key from the ignition in older cars.

It will turn off after about 5 minutes, I discovered this when detailing my car - windows down, music playing.

While running errands, I will park the car, and let someone in my car exit to enter the store, while I turn off the engine and listen to the continuing audio. I like the feature.

Yes, this is pretty much how German cars always worked, at least as far back as I can remember. If I'm not mistaken, there was actually a time when one had to manually turn off the radio before getting out of the car as it was always powered. In the olden days, it was tied to the removing of the key from the ignition and now with the push start buttons the auxiliary power turns off once the driver's door is opened or as mentioned above it shuts down on its own after about 5-10 minutes, or you can explicitly shut it off by pushing the start/stop engine button again.

To understand this behavior you have to understand that in Europe even before the introduction of ECO Start/Stop it was common, expected and I think even added to the law that one turns off their engine while being stopped at traffic lights, railway crossings or just waiting for somebody, so it would be annoying if the radio etc. would turn off every time.

In my experience with older (keyed) ignitions, there was always an "accessories" key position between "off" and "run+start." So, whenever one rotated the key CCW from Run to accessory, the radio always continued to run -- appropriately as an accessory -- until the key was rotated further CCW to off. So I don't see MB behavior as any different.

I remember some cars where accessory and run were bookends to Off. In this case you would have to rotate through off to get to accessory. Which I always found as awkward.

And that hasn't really changed with the push button start. There's still a position between off and engine running. If you get in the car and push the start button w/o foot on the brake it goes into the accessory position where everything including the fans turn on.

I agree we are making the same observations.
