Ordering E53 - Questions about available options

New to this board, and I'm in the process of finalizing my build for E53 with my local dealer. The dealer has come back and told me two of my options aren't possible--1) DINAMICA steering wheel and 2) RVQ - 20-inch AMG wheel (they are telling me I have to order RVR, which is same wheel with black accents, since I'm ordering the DC1 Night Package). The online MBUSA configurator, as well as the order guide the dealer sent me, provide that I can spec the car with both of these options, but the dealer says it's not possible when they try to build the car on their system. I'm not getting a good answer as to why configurator and order guide allow for this, but their system does not. High class problems to have, but any thoughts on how I run this to ground?

I know for sure that Night Package requires the wheels with the black accents - not sure on the steering wheel.

Let me just throw this out there -

I have the 20" wheels and the ride is absolutely terrible. The combo of the run flat tires and short sidewall is a miserable combination. Ive already replaced two wheels from minor potholes (over $1k each) and I have always had a slight, weird vibration on the highway. I junked the run flats at 10k miles and installed Michelin A/S tires and it helped a little bit, but the ride is still really poor. Almost every 43/53 road test mentions this and it true in my opinion.

I also have the Dinamica wheel and at 15k miles, it is smooth a butter and the "fuzzy" feel is gone.

You hit the two options that if I would have ordered the car (it was already on the lot) i would not have gotten. Especially the 20" wheels - I'm screaming "iceberg!" to you on that one!!!!!!!

Your sales consultant needs to call the regional manager or who ever is in charge and get a reasonable explanation for you. If I were you - I'd tell them that these are "deal killer" issues and you are going to look at other brands. Methinks that there are supply chain issues, possibly covid related.

+1

I have the standard wheels on my 2019 E450" 18" with RF.

I find the ride to be absolutely perfect - even with the RF

FR is correct: check this board and you will find 95% of the complaints about ride quality are from those will larger than standard wheels.

Just my $.02.

My 2018 E300 has 18" wheels with 245/45R18 tires. The initial ride was quite harsh compared to my E55. After I replaced the run flats with Pirelli Cinturato non run flats, the ride was up to MB standards.

Surprised to see the E53 rides so harsh with 20" wheels. I would've thought the air suspension would've helped out a bit.
