GPS stuttering?
Hi all, just got my car back from the mechanic, it was in for a GPS antenna change and navigation maps update.
Ofcourse the GPS has not been working(hence the antenna change) but before, when it did work, it ran smoothly - as do google maps, apple maps, waze
but now the MB navigation stutters, it does show me correctly, but instead of a smooth movement on the map, it like goes back 2 milimeters(when having it in the second to closest zoom) like every second...
hard to explain... but its like the map stutter/jitter in the oposite direction of the movement.
ill talk to the mechanic today and see what he says...
have any of you experianced something similar?

i used to update my maps myself by download (but now subscription ended)
and also had the gps antenna replaced about 2 months ago
but never experienced the problem you describe
it could be that your comand needs updating . any idea what version you are on ?
(if it's never been updated since 2016 i believe that causes the problem)

Most likely the GPS is OK and it is the display of maps or Comand that is screwed.
The GPS will either be giving a reading or not, it will not be giving an older reading.

Thanks for the reply guys - it “self” corrected, meaning that there was no issues today... so I am guessing it was probably caused by it just being installed along with new maps - so it had to be “run-in”
im on newest firmware as of one month old

Most likely it just had to calibrate itself, because it hasn't received a GPS signal for a while. Car navigation systems actually continue to work even w/o a GPS signal. If the signal is lost, they start approximating the current position based on other sensors in the car, such as wheel speed, steering angle etc. and once a GPS signal is received again, they correct the position to what's received. So your system was probably just in the process of reconciling its last approximated position with the GPS signal it's now receiving again.
