The Carlink 2.0 does not work well on e450 Wireless Car Play
Got the Carlink 2.0 off Amazon and hooked it up today. Was plug and play into the USB. It tells you what to do on the screen after it is plugged in and you simply follow the instructions. I set it up so Apple Car Play comes on automatically when the car is started. Audio quality seems ok. Maybe slightly down graded. It cuts in and out using nav apps. Still have not tried it out in my S class yet. The one drawback is if you use the WiFi off the car for streaming you can’t do that with the Car Link 2.0 as it works off its own WIFI so you have to use your phone data for streaming. The unit fits in next to the cup holders so your still able to use them. You just leave it plugged in all the time and can still fit the phone in the wireless charging dock.

Lol. Ya I’m getting old. The carlinkit is still working well. It is nice not to have to plug in the phone each time. Plus if you need to use the phone for anything else nice not to have it tethered to a cord. Ya I recommend this device. Lol. Well unless it dies tomorrow. So far so good. It automatically liinks up every time at least so far.

This is the negatve that Ive heard, when running maps and music that it overwhelms the device. I havent had that issue so far yet, but we don't use google maps navigation much since the unit is in our van and it gets used around town mostly. We have the map screen up and that seems fine, but the issue seems to be when navigating...

I was about to purchase it, as the wireless option sounds so good, as I'm using android auto every day.
But also using Waze or Google Maps all the time.
What a shame it doesn't work.

It does work, but I think when it gets overloaded with data it just can't handle it, at least with our cars. I was streaming HD music at the time with Amazon HD. Maybe had it been apple music I would have been ok as that uses less data. But too many weird seemingly unrelated things where happening even before I noticed the cut outs start to happen. First thing I noticed was the Distronic adaptive cruise camera is dirty warning came up and the shield on the front of the car was clean, never had that warning in this car. That was odd. I just feel with the kind of tech these cars have why push luck with something like this that might interfere with the tech. I do notice since going back to wired the audio quality is better. I was optimistic when I first started using this device but within a couple days I had to rule it out. I tried to edit the title of this post but the browser would not allow me to do so, was able to edit the first post somewhat.

Strange first time I’ve ever had that warning in my wagon in over 2 years. Car was clean too. The other big issue was not being able to use the cars internet data and having to use my cell phone data. It made funny cutting in and out noises too. I really wanted it to work properly but was just not in the cards.
