eCall System Recall
Has anyone received notification from MB on this recall? Has anyone had the update to correct it?

Recall just came out. Letters will go out later. Applies to pretty much all recent models. It's gonna be an OTA software update for 2019+ models.

And while I hear that this is/was an issue in Europe also, I'm curious why there's crickets about the issue in Canada.

In Europe eCall is mandatory by law, so if it doesn't work properly it's gonna have to be safety recall. I'm not entirely sure about the legal situation of eCall in the USA, but that's where to start looking. If it's not considered a legally required safety item, then it'll likely just be a normal service campaign.

I asked my dealer service manager about this recall when I dropped my car off couple of days ago. He told me they had to look this up and at the moment they have no instructions or fix available to implement. He thinks it will take some time before this gets rolled out.

Interesting not to see the 238 model in the list.
Ya, nothing on the MB Canada or CA gov sites. Only 1 campaign about the rear camera and specific 238 is not listed on that either.

Letter from MB USA
I got a letter in the mail from MB USA this week about the recall.
It says, "...An Over-The-Air ("OTA") activation will be initiated to update the communication module software for the automatic emergency call system on the affected vehicles..."
If you call a dealer, the letter says, "...Please mention you are asking about the Over-The-Air ("OTA") update under NHTSA Recall # 21V058..."
The letter does not provide any dates as to when the OTA action will occur.

We have our car in at the dealer right now to fix a non-functioning Apps system and an activated carbon recall and asked about the eCall recall. They still don't have anything on that from the high castle yet. I'm not surprised as they can't seem to get the connected apps to work since the original two year subscription timed out.

Nice to hear that we're not the only one to have a cracked rim.
