2020 E450 Wagon
Front Plate Mounting Alternative

I finally got my license plates for my 2020 E-450 wagon. I had my entire front end already covered in PPF so didn't want to have the front bumper drilled to mount the plates in the event they damaged the PPF. Instead, I used a product I've used before that works very well and requires no drilling. It is call Sly Brackets.

They have two different mounting methods, one for vertical or horizontal slat grills while the other is for hexagon/mesh/honeycomb type grills. I purchased the latter one for my E-450. Here is a link to the sight: https://www.slybrackets.com/

Here are a few pics of the solution from different angles. It only took me about ten minutes to mount the Sly Bracket.

Looks good. Will look even better when plate is horizontal with bumper.

Looks nice. I wonder if it will come loose over time? I wonder if the plate will restrct air flow?

I used the same product on my VW Golf wagon and its been on there for 22 months now. It has not come loose and I've had no indication of it affecting airflow in either the VW or my E450. I did an hour drive with the E450 on Friday and saw no indication of any cooling issues.

Didn't notice it when I installed it, will need to check on that.

I corrected the installation. I installed it at the back of my garage so I could sit on the step and couldn't step back to look at it. It's all good now.
