E400 tuning and turbos. Need help.

E400
Hi. I have a 3.5L engine and thinking of tuning it. Talked to a company that does stage 2.
In stage 1 it is only mapping (420hp) and in stage 2 (455hp) they raise the pressure in the turbo to 1.4 bar (20psi)Checked for the information about the turbo and only find that it is IHI that is manufacturer and that they run in 0.7 bar in 3.5L engine. true??
Does anyone have experience of tuning your E400 and do you know anything more about the turbo if they can handle 1.4 bar?

Found that 3.0L has the same IHI turbo but different model. Which model or something more about it I can not find.

CLS400 4Matic EC Tuned
Are you sure you have a 3.5L engine with two turbos? I have a CLS400 4Matic with a 3.0L biturbo engine (located in Canada). I feel like Europeans say they have a 3.5L biturbo, so maybe your engine is bigger there? For stage 2, I'm not so sure what is different in the software, but generally for stage 2, you gotta remove the catalytic converter and/or purchase downpipes. Where are you located and who did you contact about for stage 2? I have a stage 1 file from Eurcoharged Houston, and I'm currently communicating with them to make me a 480HP/528 pound feet stage 1 file, like how Eurocharged Canada does for the 400/450/43 engines. I'm not sure about the boost specifics, I guess it's something you gotta contact them about. I do recommend getting a tune as stock form, the 400 engine is limited and not that fun.

2014 - W212.065 - E400 ( M276.820, 3 liter Turbo) RWD not Hybrid
There is rare version of 3.5L but with turbo for M276 family after the normally aspirated 3.5L < 2013/2014

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercedes-Benz_M276_engine
DE 35 LA

The same bore and stroke of the normally aspirated DE 35 (92.9 mm × 86 mm (3.66 in × 3.39 in)) are used for this turbocharged version, with a lower boost level than the DE 30 LA on the same twin turbocharged format using a different model IHI turbocharger. While the power and torque remained the same, this larger displacement lower boost model yields a lower fuel consumption than M276 DE 30 LA.[5] Sometimes called DE 35 AL, this engine was offered on S400, CLS400, E400 4Matic (up to 2018), E450 and Maybach S400 4Matic models up to 2017.

DE 30 LA is the 3.0 turbo 333HP. This 3.0 turbo boost is at 0.8 BAR. See attached PDF.

Jasse, if your cooling system is not much better than a W212 E400 3.0 Twin Turbo, and if you are at 32C - 35C ambient temperature and do a track run, even 333HP will produce 120C coolant temp within 2 hard driven laps on a
3.9KM circuit, this one : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sentul...tional_Circuit

420HP is very respectable already. Eat them competitors at corners , don't rely too much on power alone as it is not as fun as high G corners

Yes mine is 3.5L twin turbo.
3.5L turbo has 0.7 bar preassure and 3.0 has 0.8 bar. Just as S-Prihadi writes.
E43 until 2018 has 0.95bar and after 2018 it has a slightly larger turbo and 1.1bar.

S-Prihadi my cooling system is original but I live in Sweden so we do not have 35C
A good summer day maybe it can get up to 30 degrees otherwise between 20-27

I will not drive on the track but it is my daily ride. So do I dare to push it to 1.4 bar ?
We do not have Eurocharged here, but I will hand it over to a tuning company that has been doing this since 1997.
It would have been interesting to know what boost Eurocharged has in its step 1.

Jasse,

To gain more knowlegde on turbo, aftercooler, EGT and etc, watch this complete episode : Killing A Duramax , by Banks Power
https://www.youtube.com/c/bankspower...?query=killing

Albeit the information is about diesel, the science of DO and DON'T is the same for gasoline.

Increasing a turbo boost from a stock turbo means you will exceed its designed RPM. Not good and damage you will get.
If you watch well the 15 parts video , repeatedly if you need to, you will have a clearer picture on how best to modify your engine in regards to turbocharging + aftercooling.

Remember this : Air Density and Temperature is what you need to take a closer look into.

W212 E400 stock aftercooler is not bad, I am suprised.
At wind velocity of 80 KM/H I am seeing aftercooled ( intake) temperature only 10C above ambient, this is good !!

Driveability and reliability of a tuned engine is something you must really consider if it is a daily drive and if you intend to keep it for a decently long ownership.

Happy watching........

Ignore the above poster... he doesn't know what he's talking about. Here's what lots of us with 400s/43s/450s use: https://www.n54tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=28003 .
