Bumper guards? Clear or otherwise

Has anyone had a rear bumper guard installed? I had a clear applique one on my previous car (non-mb) but this one ('17 e300) does not have anything like that. I am seeing a couple light scratches on the bumper most likely from golf clubs going in and out.

Amazon sells a chrome type but I am not sure how that would look.

Any suggestions?

You talking about PPF or a “sill” protector like this: https://www.carshine.com.au/mercedes...gon-value.html

Not sure what PPF is, if its the clear film protector, then yes. The sill guard, like you linked, probably would look cheap and change the look of the rear. I had a clear film on my last car that protected it the same way that sill does.
I would assume my dealer would add one but that would be pricier than buying one and putting it on. Just curious if anyone put one on and what they used.

thanks

PPF, paint protection film... find a quality installer and they can cover whatever you need.

I ordered a carbon fiber protector from a German company as MB doesn't sell anything for the wagons here in North America. The quality is excellent.

Hi,

I originally tried to order the part from the manufacturer in Germany but they would not ship outside of the EU. I then found a distributor in the UK and they were fine with shipping to me here in the US. The part was around $150 and shipping and duties were another $110. The piece is top quality though, aluminum frame and then the carbon fiber style cover over the frame.

Looks real nice on your car. I was hoping for a clear film but this is interesting. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks! I was going to do the same clear film but then stumbled on this and I'm really happy with the way it looks. I bought OEM side view mirror covers in black and later this year I'm going to have all the chrome trim black vinyl wrapped to make it a complete white/black color scheme.

I had a clear film on top of the rear bumper of our previous wagon, but not on our current wagon. Just a note of caution, if you park your car in the sun a lot, the film will deteriorate.

Are you referring to the vinyl wrap when you say film or are you talking about the PPF? I keep my car in the garage if not being used. I also have covered parking at work, although not been there since Mar 2020. I also have another car which I drive most days so my Benz is babied

I was referring to the 3M paint protection film that I had custom fitted and installed. On one car that was in the garage most of the time, I had no problem. On another car that was parked at the train lot about 12 hours a day, I had a problem with the PPF cracking over the years.

If one washes and waxed the PPF it is supposed to protect it from environmental impact.
