I know in most states it is legal to record the police. Just look at all the constitutional discussions on YT about it.

I have a 2020 E450 wagon and a Galaxy S20 and mine fits on the wireless charger. That is odd that they changed the size of the wireless charger pad seeing as both are W213 vehicles. That does suck though if they did.

my e has android auto and Apple CarPlay as standard in command. The EQC does not have it as standard in MBUX paid 450 euro to in it yet in the U.K. it comes in the premium or premium plus package both of which I have specked🙄. Is the e now MBUX?

I have a 2021 E450 and also a Galaxy S20. I can confirm that the Galaxy S20 does fit.

Certainly not an MBUSA 'thing'. Here in Europe the 'Continual loop' has to be activated at the start of each journey.

Is there a setting or option that allows it to automatically activate?

Speaking of the built-in dashcam, I just realized it is not even that good, 720P? with no sound?
Nick O'Leary talked about it here : www.youtube.com/watch?v=cqGlOtTjmz0

np lol, I shared the link due to him talking about the quality of the camera and that there is no sound, little did I know there was a different use for the video glad it ended up being helpful for you.

it's true that the image is not fantastic. and it's not a dual cam which i definitely want .
they really should make use of all the cameras already present...

Exactly, it would be nice if they can have the backup cam recording too but then they will quote safety reasons as why they won't go that route since the backup cam does turn off after we reach certain speeds.

It would be nice to know what countries allow this continual loop and how ironic that we can buy an aftermarket dash cam that has this feature. If it is illegal in 'certain' countries then should it be illegal to supply this feature, but do not let this point detract from my question.

What countries supply a brand new Mercedes-Benz with this feature enabled for multiple journeys?

there seem to be only 3 countries in Europe where a dashcam is illegal (Portugal, Luxembourg, Austria ) : Dash Cams around the World - VIA Technologies, Inc.
And all USA states allow it (albeit many have specific mounting instructions) Dashcam Laws by State - FreightWaves Ratings
so yes it's weird that the feature is not everywhere available and that it won't record automatically.

I am only talking about the Mercedes-Benz dash camera that is an option that is available on certain models.

It is very kind of you to post the European countries where a dash-cam is illegal but in countries where it is not illegal we have the option 'Continual loop'

Sounds good to me BUT...... Prior to a new journey, we have to switch the camera on?? Why? It states continual loop so why not have the thing running by default with an option to switch it off?

I am curious to hear what countries have this feature or something very similar.

I just know, I just know that Murphy's Law will apply and when we want to review our journey, the thing will not have been activated

that's why i posted it.... to show that in most countries it's NOT illegal, so why not have the automatic recording feature ...

Same in the UK, no autostart. Good picture but for £200? My old Ebay stick on for £14 records well and with sound!
Very annoying dashcam.

Hi
Did you get to activate the autotart?
I got a refund after trying to speak to anyone either dealer of MB customer services with no joy.

My little square dashcam from eBay for £14 works fine and records sound. However, I would like to use the MB if it autostarted. Have left a number of emails for MB days ago still no reply asking about the size of flash drive (want to use 2tb for holiday recording) and the issue of the best port to use in my CLA to avoid overwritting my music on another drive.

If we are talking about electronics then may I nominate Augmented Reality?

I believe that in the great majority of countries the dash camera is legal and to me, if we offer it as an option then it should work like the great majority of after-market products and work when the engine is running

Also if you are using CarPlay the wireless charging is redundent. The ports would have been better in the console and we should have a dash cam port and a CarPlay port.
I am still confused about this. I saw a Youtube video of a guy using the USBC port in the center console armrest to plug in the thumb drive for the dash cam. Is it for certain the media USBC port by the cup holder is the only port the dash cam recognizes? If so, this really sucks because I ordered the dash cam option and I do use CarPlay mostly always....though, this is pending how the chip shortage affects my build.

according to the manual in the iphone app (‎Mercedes-Benz Guides on the App Store (apple.com)) ANY usb port will do : "requirements: a USB device is connected with the multi media system "

I do not have car play but my experience so far is that Mercedes are quite sensitive regarding brand of USB memory stick and yes, I have had sticks that will not work no matter what slot they go in.but does the dashcam have a dedicated slot? I tend to use the slot shown in the manual for the dashcam
