According to the 2022 Dealer Order Guide, MB does not list the I-4 as having the EQ 48 volt system.

2020 GLS450 (wife) / 2024 Ford Bronco (mine) / 2014 VW Tiquan (son)
Motorweek TV show just did a road test of the E450 with the same engine and EQ boost as in the GLE and new GLS. It’s fast… 0-60 in mid 4 second kind of fast!

but, I might wait a little bit for MB to get their battery supplier issues ironed out first. Many with the GLE and GLS are starting to report issues with the 48v setup where the car just goes dead over a 48v error. Seems to be the battery. We’ve got a 2020 GLS 450 and had an error on the 48v as well, but it didn’t shut car down and cleared itself in about an hour, haven’t seen it since and that about 9 months and 20k miles ago, but others not so lucky.

It truly is an awesome power setup though with the straight 6 / turbo / EQ all there when needed. You would think a beast like the GLS450 would move, but it does and does it quickly for its size. But think a few kinks needed to be ironed out first. Other issue is not a very smooth stopping experience as the system regenerates with the brakes as well. Gets lumpy and bumpy once you’re past 4th and heading to 1st on a gentle rolling stop:

Mid 4's!?!?! Ummmm, yes, I'd say that's fast! LOL. I don't drive fast at all. However, I like a car to be nimble, only for the fact that here in the tri-state area -- well, we have aggressive drivers, LOL. It's all city-like, highway, major, state/route/roads, merges, go with the flow, etc., kind of driving. The monster engine -- and the low-profile rims/wheels -- was the main reason I never got the AMG E-class. I just never needed that size engine, horsepower, etc. But, I am sure it's nice! LOL.

Yup I was impressed too especially how it isn't AMG tuned, those are some good numbers you won't even see on performance cars from just a few years ago, we came a long way for sure and the E-Class chasis isn't anywhere we would consider light. During my test drive with the pfl, my butt dyno certainly felt the E450 was around the 4.8 seconds and less compared to the 5.2 seconds MB Canada claims for the coupe (pfl without the inline-6 and EQ boost). The E450 was effortless and smooth power. With this new inline 6 replacing the old V6 with EQ boost, although I was impressed, I wasn't surprised about Motorweek's test results.
