Snows...Hakka R3 vs pilot alpin 4?
I know I know...lots of threads from over the years, but I haven't seen this specific thing discussed.
Has anyone had personal experience with both the Hakka R3 and the PA4?
I've had the R3's on my last 3 cars and loved them, but those were all range rovers and they were such big fat boats...hard to even notice a handling trade-off since they bob and weave so much anyway.
The PA's look like they would have much better dry road manners, and 90% of my driving is dry road - but that other 10% is often really bad storm driving through some remote-ish areas and it's hard to say how much snow performance you're really giving up with the PA.
If anyone has owned both, I'd appreciate hearing your experience!

Have had pilot alpins on my old evoque and have hakka r3 now on my e class. The hakkas feel more stable, but might be more the car than the tyres. Only thing I can say are that the hakka r3 work fine on the e-class, good ride and quieter than my primacy 3 summer tires even though I run 19 inch (245x40)

I don't have direct comparison experience, but I have been incredibly satisfied with the Hakkas compared to every other snow tire I've run. I'll be putting a set of R3s on my car this winter.

I had them on our 2 cars, side-by-side for 3 winters. If it snows we take the car with the Hakkas. The PA4 is what reviewers all say - more sporty, but doesn't do as well in snow. The PA4 is better than all-seasons in snow, but nowhere near as sure footed in snow as the Hakkas.
