W213 trailer hitch software update
Dear friends
we just install retrofit trailer hitch westfalia and electric 13 pin electrical instalation from trailtec.
We been to local dealer to ask to update the car with star diagnostic and/or xentry.
they say that dont make retrofit updates and they dont have a procedure about this issue.
Let me know if you have any ideea what they have to do and how to get solve not to stay lighting the trailer hitch light on display.

I would suspect the supplier [Westfalia] or their installer would understand what's needed to code in the trailer. MB likely doesn't want to deal with it since it wasn't purchased thru them. On W212s the trailer wiring is integrated into the rear sam and requires a dedicated module (pretty involved).

MB likely won't touch it because you didn't go via them to get it fitted. All you need is someone with access to Xentry and they will tell the car it is now fitted with a towbar, the type (affects the parking sensor fields) and it will then know to activate trailer esp etc when the electrical connection is made to the trailer. Any decent MB specialist who has the access can do it, and reckon on 30 to 45 mins labour charge.
Please also remember that you must upgrade the cooling fan to a 600w motor (standard is 450w) if you intend to "tow" more than a very light trailer or bicycle rack [this happens in the factory if you order the factory fit bar].
