OP, did you end up making a decision? Just curious.

The dealership I originally bought the car from told me that I could order a car with no deposit and was under no obligation to take delivery when it came in. I went ahead and ordered the E450 but more than likely I'm not going to take it. I like the E53 better but not enough to warrant the extra cost over the E450. When the car comes in I may take it for a quick spin to see if it will work but in all reality I'm 90% sure I'm not going to take delivery of it. I honestly think that the dealership is just trying to get people to order cars so that they will restock their supply and that's why they are not requiring a deposit or really pushing me hard to take the car when it comes in. Now I'm more split on whether to keep my C43 or give it back and go a completely different direction (I'm thinking about getting a truck for the utility)

I believe somewhere else on this forum, because of the chip problem and the shortage of cars, it was posted that the only cars dealers are getting are those being ordered by customers. I find that very difficult to believe.
My lease ends on December 27 and I have called my dealer about getting a new 2022 E450 and using the equity in my lease, the residual is $41,926 and Carvana offered me $45,940 cash for my car, towards a new car.
I will post after I speak to him.

If there is no deposit then there is nothing to lose by not taking delivery.

It will be silver with grey interior, burled walnut trim, stock wheels no AMG or night package nor pano roof. The only extras will be heated steering wheel, exterior lighting package, premium package and driver assist package.
It will look identical to the one on the MBUSA.com order page for the E450.

Try this: https://www.mbusa.com/en/vehicles/bu...tegory=summary
BTW: I already have the "big screen" on my 2019 so the only difference between my new car and my present car is the color going from beige to light grey and the deletion of the clock plus the Mercedes star on the hood as I presently have the Luxury Styling which is no longer available - which I will miss!
Edit: I just went to a different browser and when I put in the above link, my car was not shown, only the base car. When I click the above link in my original browser it brings me to my saved car.- I am not sure but I think cookies have something to do with it.

Hmmm, luxury line E450 are rare, are you sure you want to sell that?

As to whether to sell:
Before the chip shortage, there was little to no equity in my car: the residual was pretty much the value of the car. The only reason I have equity is because of the scarcity of cars. Once supply and demand are in equilibrium, the "equity" in my car will disappear. So if I can get the dealer to discount the 2022 a little, plus using the present equity in my car as a "cap cost reduction" the lease on a new 2022 with a MSRP $1,000 less than my 2019, hopefully will be about the same.
If the lease on the 2022 is much more, then I may just buy mine: it only has 20,500 miles, a year remains on the warranty and because of bubbles on both front tires I had them replaced and they are new, so keeping it another year should only cost me an "A" service at 30,000 miles. 50% of my driving is highway so the brakes should be good for another 20,000 miles and the rear tires have plenty of tread left.
These are all "good decisions"!

I have driven the GLE 450 with the 48 volt hybrid. It is very nice and all things being equal I would prefer it to the twin turbo V6 in my E450. . But the reality is for my driving style, the new I6 with the 48 Volt will make little to no difference.
My biggest concerns are two:
- In New York I must sales tax on the purchase price which brings my cost up to $45,542. This is about or slightly more than what the car is presently worth.
- I really do not want to own a Mercedes beyond the warranty. So either I have to get an extended warranty or trade it in in one year. Either way is an extra expense to me and why my first preference is to take some of the equity in my car and apply it towards a 2022.

I see, I understand the residual part and equity part actually but you explained better than I would had ever explained it. I just don't know if it is enough for you to ditch the luxury trim since it is such a rare thing for the W213 E-Class. I never spotted one in Canada ever though it was definitely available as an option a few years ago and it looks so nice on the W213. As for C-Class W205 I only saw 2 over the years so they too are rare or I just don't happen to be in the same place when they appear.
Sorry to hear about the tire problems, hopefully it doesn't happen again. My C43 has a bubble in one of the tires and I bought a new set of non-RFT Michelin pilot sport 4s instead, the ride quality improved a lot too.

I am more than satisfied with the entertainment system on my 2019 E450: I prefer the wheel on the center console to the pad - which I have disabled. The 2022 no longer has the big wheel.

Ya the clock is certainly nice to have and after getting used to it, moving on to the facelift you can't help but notice it not being there (eventually you will get used to such a change though). I personally miss the stardust taillights but that's just me.
Yup the wheel is easy to use but I am sure you will easily get used to the trackpad if you do start using it.
For the i6 with the 48V system, you would appreciate a smoother acceleration from the start and instant torque from the electric motor and reduced turbo lag, otherwise once you are up to cruising speed, you won't notice much differences between the pfl V6 and fl i6. I guess the i6 is also more fuel efficient as well.
Ya we have tax here in Canada too, 13% for Ontario.
They should be able to work out something for you on the new car since you are a returning customer.
Good luck with your purchase!
