Oil Change Disaster 2017 E300
I was needing an A service on my 2017 E300 and appointments with the local independent MB service and the Birmingham Dealer were booked for several weeks. So I checked with the local Express Oil Change. They had the correct oil and filter. Also, they assured be that they knew how to reset the service meter. Unfortunately their flailed attempts to reset the service meter rendered all of the controls on the left side of the steering wheel inoperative. They offered no solution other than telling me to take the car to a Mercedes dealer. The Birmingham Dealer quoted $150/hour for diagnostics plus the cost of any parts that need replacement and, of course, a several week wait for an appointment.
Has anyone else had similar issues with resetting the service meter?

There are numerous threads on this forum, just do a key word search, that give detailed instructions on resetting the service meter plus you can go to youtube.

I am aware with those on this site and the youtube ones as well. BUT the Express Oil technicians did something that renders the buttons needed for a reset inoperative.

Only one dealer, how about independents with Xentry (MB diagnostic system). You do not mention if Express Oil Change agreed to pay for reset/repair but they should be held liable.

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately the only independent close by is also booked for several weeks.

Update
Well for a awhile it partially fixed itself. Pressing the Main Menu/back putted removed the service reminder, the volume buttons on the steering wheel started working again and the touch control would allow you to cycle through the trip menu on the on-board computer. (Only the trip menu was accessible on the on-board computer.) Unfortunately after a few days all of the buttons quit working again. My Mercedes rep says it isn't a software problem.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Have the vehicle scanned by a dealer or indy with XENTRY. Any codes?
