Running CarPlay cable into the center console?

Running CarPlay cable into the center console?
HI. When I connect to car play either I loose the use of a cup holder or I have wires hanging over the center and have to lay the phone on the floor. I was thinking I would cut a hole and run the CarPlay cable into the center arm rest compartment., Any suggestions would be appreciated

good idea, thats where its located on my 2016 w213 from factory
