Seat Position Memory Issue

Background: My wife and I are very different heights, to the point where if she used the car previously, I cannot climb into the drivers seat as my knees hit the dashboard and the steering wheel hits my stomach. I have programmed my driving position as #1, and her's is #2.

Problem: When I open up the car after she has been driving I usually hit the #1 button on the door, but it only adjusts slightly and stops, I hit #1 again to the same result and I end up needing to hit the button 3-4 times total before the seat/steering wheel actually go to my position, which ends up taking 20-30 seconds.

Am I doing something wrong? Does it have something to do with the automatic Entry/Exit adjustment? Does anyone else have any gremlins here? Is there not a way for the car to recognize my key fob and auto adjust (I realize this is more complicated if we are both in the car with our fobs...)? Thanks in advance.

When you hit the button how long did you hold it for? Did you try holding it for at least 2 seconds or 3 seconds and then release and see if it continues to adjust until the position memorized?
The C-Class requires you to hold it for the entire duration but your E-Class shouldn't have this issue, if you didn't hold it for at least two seconds then release try that first and see if it helps.

I feel like I have tried that, but I'll make a more concerted effort tomorrow morning. Thanks!

I agree:

I have the exact same situation: #1 is me: #2 in my wife (reversed on her car her Ford Edge Sport)

I have to remember to hold the #1 down for at least 2 and probably 3 seconds to have it move into the full back position for me.

Mercedes don't store the last seat position with the key fob and automatically move it in position. They believe the seat should only move with somebody sitting in it or at least standing next to it. The memory buttons are also not consistent across models for some reason. In my C63 I have to press and keep holding it until the seat has reached the programmed position. In the E Class I believe you have to press and hold it briefly. As far as I know each key fob can have its own three seat positions, though. There are also user profiles you can setup in COMAND, and they carry over to Mercedes Me, so each driver can have their own settings and Mercedes Me account.
