Great front end! I like the S-class chrome'd grill.

The 2014 version seems to have more presence than the current version. Looks good to me.

Does it, sorry if I understood it wrong as I assume there is a small typo in your sentence?

As is the Mercedes way, the design language always is conservative. Some changes you'll notice are the new disappearing character line adapted from the GLC. The side profile also looks to be stretched in length giving it a slightly more elegant look imo.

To be fair non-runflats were always an option in Europe, it still depends on the North American division to decide.

The 53 will happen and has already been spied, the 63 on the other hand...

Doubt there will be an E63. Final Edition of that is coming with the W213.

E73, on the other hand...

They’ve gotten rid of that nomenclature. Its only 63 and 63e which will be available on the GT4D, and soon the S-Class and SL, but it has been seriously delayed on the S-Class so the chances of this powertrain in the E is uncertain, especially with emissions. In addition, the next generation M5 has been spied for months, and zero spy shots of a proper AMG E class despite the M5 always premiering after the E AMG.

We do not know what they will call future AMG V8 models. Now that the C63 is a four cylinder, I would be very surprised if new AMG V8 models are also referred to as a 63 or 63e, the GT4D notwithstanding. But we'll see.

There will be a proper AMG E-class. There is no way a C-class will be their top performing car under ~$200k.

The GT63S E-Performance is their top performing vehicle and powertrain. It was expected to receive the 73 moniker but it looks like MB decided against that. I doubt there will be an E-Class variant that out performs it. The upcoming W223 S-Class AMG and R232 SL AMG's will adopt the 63S E-Performance Moniker as well, it is likely that if there were to be an E-AMG it will get the same nomenclature as the S, SL, and GT4D. The 73 moniker is likely dead. It seems the 63S E-Performance powertrain is facing severe delays as we are three-years into the S-Class' run and no AMG variant has been announced despite over a year of spy shots and the GT's return date to the US is still uncertain. The E-Class on the other hand has not been spied in AMG form yet/at all, which is very concerning given the timeline and the fact that the M5 has been spied for 6+ months. There definitely could be a V8 AMG E-Class on the way, but if so, it's gonna be a while.

Yes, and my point is that all of those cars you mention will be ~$200k and up in 63 E-Performance trim (or whatever they call it); unless there is an AMG E-class, there will be nothing to outperform a sub-$100k C-class until you get to $200k. That is a very lucrative market to concede.

As I've mentioned elsewhere on here, I expect Mercedes is gaming emissions regs with the V8s to keep fleet averages in check against their EV sales, both here and abroad.

The S will probably be under $200 (it was $150k in 2018), but regardless my point is we will likely not see an E63S E-Performance for quite some time, at least not on a traditional launch schedule.

^ I expect the S-class AMG E-Performance will more directly replace the S65 and be priced alongside the SL with the same drivetrain (SL63 starts at $180k).

Not sure I’m liking that black surround the grille (alla EQS models) that blends itself to the headlights… maybe this is for the phev or ev model that would join the lineup?
