Can I swap steerling wheels

I have a 2016 W213 E220 with the first attached wheel, I want to swap it for the 2nd attached picture, is this a hard job, do I just need to disconnect the battery?

No more MB:(
No expert here, I'm sure others will chime in but I have to imagine it's not easy and quite complicated. May need to rewrite some codes? I don't think its plug and play.

As far as I know they are not a direct swap. A module is needed to adapt the signals. There are some companies that offer retrofits. Also, the cruise control buttons on the new steering wheel won't be functional as the older cars have a stalk for that. I believe this is part of why it isn't a direct swap. So you'll have those dead buttons taking up quite a bit of real estate on the steering wheel serving no purpose.

An adapter is needed to get rid of the cruise-control stalk, but that is so the buttons on the steering wheel WILL work. It needs coding though.

Did you ever have luck getting this done?

do these for people on a weekly basis.
you need a module to be attached to the existing electronics to allow the older car to accept the new buttons. you will lose cruise control on the wheel itself which isnt a big deal, will work off the stalk.
