Hi, I'm planning on swapping my 2007 E-350 with a CPO 2020 E-350.
When the car I'm looking at was idling, I felt the Engine noise was much more than what I am used to in my 2007 E-class, or my wife's 2009 C-300 and another 2013 C-300 that we have. Should I be concerned with the louder noise that I am used to? Also, the 2007 and the 2013 were CPO while the 2009 was brand new and only driven by my wife. Now, the mileage on both the 2007 and the 2009 has just crossed 150k, but the wife's car drives like it is on clouds - almost like a Lexus! Mine is more rough. The 2013 has low-profile AMG wheels, therefore that is also not as smooth as the 2009.
Wondering if (i) guys run their cars down when they lease their cars for 2 years? Or (2) My wife is more gentle on the road than when she's inside the house!!? Or, (3) My lead foot has killed the ride of the E-350 ?? The newer 2020 E-350 wasn't that 'buttery' to drive as my wife's!
Confused!
I have always loved my E-350, though!
Thank you for your guidance!

The 4 banger will be louder than the NA 6 engine, from the inside of the car, they are similar. Newer Mercedes are sportier, therefore the ride will be rougher. If you want a smoother ride, get the air suspension or the luxury trim.

Its the high efficiency short skirt pistons and the direct injectors making all the noise. Cannot hear it from the inside the car so it doesnt bother me. In fact, this W213 is one of the quietest car I have owed.

It bothers me when I pull up to someone and they ask me what’s wrong with the engine.

Usually the engine quiets down after warm up, From the inside where it matters, the engine sounds pretty good in sport+ mode, even if the note is fake.

Thanks folks, for all your inputs! It's the engineering - can't do much about it. But I did try another 2020 E-350 and it was much quieter. Yes, we are only talking about the noise you can hear while it's idling, and you are standing outside the car next to the hood. Inside the cabin, all cars have been beautifully silent!
Now this would be another thread, but the older car got sold in less than an week and I've lived without a car for about 6 days trying to wrench the CPO from the dealers' clutches! Finally succeeded with a 2021 E-350. I'm sure I'll love it! Thank you, all!
And this could be yet another thread, but purchase was made over the Internet, Out of State, and I expect a flat-bed rolling onto my driveway in about 3-4 days' time.![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
