Not mornings, this just happened once, last week
in my 2019 e450 ( with 9000 miles on it)
This car had the subfloor space on passenger side flooded from poorly designed engine compartment drain back in Nov. 2021
That flood wiped out the driver 's dash, MB fixed it under warranty, but I asked the guy was this gonna cause a problem in the future.
He said wait and see
Can manipulating the key fob cause that to happen?

There's a convenience open/close feature on the fob. If you press and hold the unlock button, then all the windows lower and the sunroof opens. Similarly if you press and hold the lock button all the windows and the sunroof close. I suppose it's possible to accidentally sit on the fob and trigger this function.

Ya, I had seen something like that. But when I come home i hang the keys on the wall and pick 'em the next day.
Hopefully it's just that
