Continuous Park sensor warning - ignition off
The beeping didn't stop when I cleared the spot. I drove a short distance and restarted the car. Same beep.
My inclination is that the proximity sensor got out of sync due to the system being bust starting up - why it wouldn't reset no idea.
I stopped, turned off the ignition, got out of the car, closed the door and locked it and got back in, still the continuous beep.
I got home (beeeeeeep) did the same. Cycled the off the Parktronic, same beep.
Cycled the entire media center with thee power button - same beep.
I checked all the Car system options, not nothing turned off the parking beep.
I checked every parktronic sensor was clean and dirt free (no rain here for a while)
I drove close to something and backed off, red and yellow sectors for proximity on cameras, but same beep.
I called roadside assistance (on hold for one hour because of brake recall) the rep was curt and said roadside assistance was only for gas and battery, but they could initiate a tow.
I called my dealer, they are out of loaners for three weeks, and no techs to speak to (they went home while I was on hold).
I got my OBDII scanner gen 1 - no codes.
My neighbors OBDII scanner Gen 2 - no codes.
5 hours later - still the same beep (soundproofing is good- you have to open the car to hear it)
I shall call my Service advisor tomorrow to see if there is a self-help fix, maybe call an indy.
Unless someone here has a fix?
I saw this on VW and Audi forums, but some got it fixed by cycling the media center - not for me.
It's been running fine for a year, so while there may be new software - not at all sure why it would suddenly need an update. I'll check with my dealer.
I did already drive close to an object to get red and yellow segments on the camera, so camera proximity seems to be still working.
I also blocked each sensor.
I used to get discontinuous beeps and continuous beep but now just continuous.
I traced the Park assist 7.5A brown fuse to #468 in the trunk (I have the S213 wagon) and pulled that, but no change, beep persists.
Note - fuse diagram is folded and hidden beside fuses, and diagram is upside down from installation!
If I disconnect the battery what settings will I lose?
I first pulled the Park Assist fuse with the engine OFF, so the signal was not reset.
When I tried pulling the fuse and turned the engine ON, the Parktronic reset, sound went off, and now works normally.
Thanks again for your help!
Hope this post helps someone in the future.
I shall still check with the dealer on software updates before my CPO 1 year warranty extension runs out at the end of this month.
And, I know you have helped me in the past - all the best to you!
